Not amazing so far, but good. It's basically just indie Tropical Freeze lol. I've played up to the 2nd "paywall" right now (it's a barrier where you have to pay tokens you've collected from levels to open up new areas). So far my thoughts are:

Positives:
-It looks beautiful
-The fact you can explore the overworld so much and solve puzzles to find little secrets and passageways to new levels is a lot of fun. You can even unlock new levels by changing the environment (ie: by submerging a level book into water to change the level inside. Or freezing a book changes the level, etc.)
-Controls are pretty solid
-Level design is good.
-It's cool that you can attempt the final level right away if you want, but you gain more advantage the more levels you beat.

Negatives:
-Loading takes forever
-The levels tend to be on the long side, which I'm not a fan of
-Yooka Laylee looks fine, but all the NPCs look kinda goofy and animate weird, especially the queen bee >_>

It's a good platformer. If you like that, you'll enjoy this. If you don't, you'll probably want to pass then.

This aligns with my thoughts pretty much. I'd add

- The fonts look like the ones from a bad mobile game
- There are these "tonics" you can get, most of which offer some sort of gameplay advantage, but some apply a visual filter to the levels. There's one that makes things look like a GameBoy game, with everything shades of green. The art style is extremely not meant for this, and it just makes it hard to read the level.
- it's very consciously borrowing from famous platformers, most obviously DKC, but also Yoshi's Island and there's some of the music sounds like recent Rayman.

It was announced only a few months back, and is already released. It didn't have nearly as big of a news cycle as the first one did

I liked the original, but it is definitely flawed. The worlds are waaay too big and everything is too spread out. They should've just kept everything small and added like 2 more worlds and it would've been so much better
