I will gladly trade wasting a part of an apple to enjoy eating the apple and not make it a chore. That's why you eat it starting from one end. You get a good mix of like 75% flesh and 25% endocarp in each bite. The best part about it is the cleanliness though. When you're done eating all you have left is the stem, rather than wet, sticky core that's already starting to decompose.
