Alabama and Anti-Abortion Heifer, Kay Ivey has issued an apology after her role in a RACIST SKIT which saw her wear BLACKFACE at a college party in 1967 has been revealed!!

The 74 y/o offered her "heartfelt apologies for the pain and embarrassment"of her actions while she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Auburn University

Audio recordings were uncoveredinthe skit which Kaye's then fiance, Ben LaRavis, can be heard describing her as having "black paint all over her face"

She said she had no recollection of the 52 year old recording but doesn't deny it happened

She said "While some may attempt to excuse this as acceptable behaviour for a college student during the mid-1960s, that is not who i am today, and it is not what my administration represents all these years later"

She insists that all she can do is show that the "Alabama of today is a far cry from the Alabama of the 1960s"

Ivey made headlines earlier this eyar after signing a controversial abortion bill that punishes doctors with prison if they performed the procedure.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam was also embroiled in a blackface scandal as he admitted to wearing shoe polish on his face and was widely denounced by members of his own party and he apologized for appearing it.

He did not resign over the scandal despite numerous people within his party asked him to

Probably yes in the eyes of those performing it. It was clearly a fad. It mightve been somewhat niche but it was common enough to be in some pretty famous media even up to much more recent day with Tropic Thunder and Jimmy Kimmel. It was also common enough that tons of people are now being ostracized for something that they did literally decades ago.

It can easily be argued that the closer it is to modern day the more the perpetrator shouldve known what he or she was doing was not looked well upon but something that happened so far back is stupid to judge by todays standards because it ignores the fact that the very person in question hasnt done it again since. It suggests that people literally cannot learn and grow as they age despite their very actions suggesting otherwise.

I've met people in my line of work (I move cars from place to place) who would agree that they miss being able to do the stuff Alabama and Virginia's governors were able to do and get away with as a 'youthful indiscretion'. Never mind the fact that, if someone says or does something that offends them, they don't see that as a 'youthful indiscretion' but as a reason to attack them on social media, threaten to hurt or kill them and/or their family, etc. Most of them have gotten away with stuff that, if someone who didn't look like them did the same thing, would get their life ruined for good; they 'can't walk a mile in someone else's shoes' to coin a phrase. No empathy, no compassion except for those who think, look and act like them; that's what is killing this country more than anything else.

It's one of those things that has stopped actually being relevant for so long that it needs to be explained why it's offensive and, as a follow-up, why it alone is considered as being specifically that offensive when other groups were subject to parody. Or, for that matter, why other forms of black racial stereotypes used in comedy and elsewhere are acceptable despite also being offensive. All that aside, I'm not sure that there's any place in the developed world where blackface is considered acceptable, even if it's not condemned as harshly. That general attitude is gradually spreading through developing nations as well through cultural imperialism and, presumably, accompanying economic pressures. A good case-in-point would be a Chinese company that ran a racist dishwasher ad in China first handwaved the commercial as Westerners being too sensitive, but eventually issued a formal apology and discontinued use of the commercial.

When I was younger I had racist thoughts and I said racist things. I never did blackface or was recorded saying racist things, but if I was in the sixties? I could have easily done blackface. Im a jokester. Who knows.

I am not a racist. I feel no anger in my heart toward anybody because of where they come from or their skin color. But as a child, I did and said bad things. People change. People grow. Thats fucking life.
