Partly yes, especially for the singles. But Id say theres a few songs on Enema (Dumpweed, Dysentery Gary, Mutt, Wendy Clear) that basically sound like Dude Ranch songs just with more professional drumming.

So I was listening to BLINK-182 self titled album (2003) and man is it underrated, definitely has Toms influence in the second half of the album

Ill get hate, but California was a good album too especially the last half, just saying!

The way I see it with Blinks main releases:

Buddha- fun dirty album, definitely still sounds like a garage bands demo but theyre definitely in that full Blink mode. Carousels the obvious highlight but there are some real underrated tracks on here.

Cheshire Cat- near perfect pop punk record. Goofy and rude but also earnest at all the right moments, and adding that intro to Carousel took it to the next level.

Dude Ranch- this is where they really nailed it. Everything good about Cheshire Cat but bigger and more powerful.

Enema- its best moments are where it sounds like a more polished Dude Ranch. Some of its poppier moments were still good, but as a full album it feels like a little weight was lost.

TOYP&J- couple fun songs here and there, basically its like the less cool half of Enema took over the full experience. Its clearly well-made, but doesnt really leave a mark for me. This was when it really felt like they were becoming the exact thing they made fun of in the All The Small Things video, like a boy band who happens to play instruments.

S/T- mixed bag but a net positive. They broke a lot of their formulas and made a more sonically diverse album. Still was very much that pop-emo era Blink, but it sounded like they actually were growing up. More indie/alternative elements were coming through, some obvious Cure influence too. Toms voice truly became a caricature of itself here though, like whenever people imitate Tom its this voice, whereas I actually think he sounded cool in the 90s era. Anyway, this album is what they SHOULD have been developing on in the present day. Im not even a big fan of it but I respect it, because it sounds like they were growing with the times and trying new things.

fans want the older stuff, but dont realize these dudes are 40 years old, theyve grown up - yet the fans havent

Sucks for pop/punk bands and their fan base not grown up at the same rate as themselves and the fans hating on their new stuff
