I don't go out of my way to listen to it, and I'm not even really aware of her work in any meaningful way, but every time I'm flipping channels on the radio and catch one of her songs it always seems to be something I find catchy and enjoyable.

It's gotten to the point now where if I hear a poppy song by a female lead singer that really clicks for me I just assume it's probably her, because it usually is.

I love her! I saw her on her Reputation Tour last year. During the break between songs, where they have to quickly prepare the stage and change costumes, she talks to the audience.

At one point, she talked about how she reads people's posts and profiles, and how happy it makes her to see her fans grow and find love. She then realized she was starting to sound creepy, tried to backpedal a bit, and explained she had been doing it for years. She's so funny.

I liked "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "You Belong with Me." I'm sure there are at least several other songs I enjoyed, which is more than I can say about the vast majority of musical acts. That said, I don't own any of her music and I'm not sure that I've often sought it out.

I also liked that, at one point, she was a generally inoffensive celebrity, which is a rare thing because everybody needs to have a cause now and most are outspoken on some social or political issue. If I know a celebrity's politics and that celebrity isn't an actual politician, it's usually a pretty strong sign that they talk too damn much about their politics.

As far as female pop stars go, I prefer Katy Perry. She's grown on me over the years and, even now, when I first hear one of her songs I'll dislike it but eventually I'll find myself actually listening to it. There are probably a few dozen pop stars I prefer over Katy Perry, though.

Her music is for children, five-year olds (to quote the entertainer, Charli XCX). Taylor Swift is like The Wiggles or Jojo Siwa, with slightly more mature lyrical themes. She may be singing about politics or gay rights in her newer songs. But she does so in super commercial pop songs free of explicit/profane content that would keep them from Nickelodeon or Disney Channel. In comparison, an artist that debuted around the same time as Swift, Miley Cyrus, went from being a Disney artist to an artist that was at one point, banned from MTV.

Fourteen years ago Taylor Swift was a teenager singing about boy romances being fairy tales, and threatening to claim an ex-lover was gay if they didn't return to her. Miley Cyrus performed under the alter ego, Hannah Montana, singing about the thrills of being a child star, while also innocently crushing on boys.
Taylor Swift was 16, while Miley Cyrus was 13.

Flash forward seven years later, and Hannah Montana faded for Miley Cyrus to emerge. Cyrus could rarely be seen in more than undergarments, both on and off-stage. She was twerking on Robin Thicke on MTV, sang naked on a wrecking ball in a video, and had an album song with Britney Spears about orgies so wild they were like zoo animals. Taylor Swift was still singing about guys and their relationships being like daydreams and nightmares. Swift also released songs forgiving Kanye West for sabotaging an award acceptance speech, a critic that gave a negative review of a performance with Stevie Nicks, and cryptic songs about celebrity relationships with Jake Gylenhaal, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles, Eddie Redmayne, Zac Efron, etc.
Swift was 23, while Cyrus was 20.

Flash forward five years later. Cyrus dropped her pop tunes to sing laid back country songs. She had a song with Dolly Parton about dissociating from severe domestic abuse to an Oz-like internal fantasy. Another song attempted to understand the social stigma and purported biological problems of a bisexual relationship, before admitting it was irrelevant, as love between two sexes is natural and needs no explanation. At this time, Cyrus also was featured alongside other singers, such as Katy Perry and Demi Lovato, on press tours with U.S. Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton. Swift was promoting an album this same time-frame too. She abstained from all political references, and endorsed no candidate in the election. Instead, she relocated her energies to attacking Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West, in lyrics, videos, and cryptic social media posts. She had a song about the old Taylor being dead. But that album, and every track promoting it, continued to mention guys and romances. There were more mature references to being wealthier than The Great Gatsby, drinking beer while riding jaguars, and a song with Ed Sheeran and Future that subtly referenced sexual intercourse as being a game of pirates and treasure maps.
Swift was almost 27, Cyrus was 25.

Nearly two years later and Miley Cyrus recently came to terms with the problems of appropriating African American culture, vernacular, and having once profited through an identity build around that. She instead changed her image to a nostalgic 90s Courtney Love alternate rock scene. Songs from Cyrus include one alongside drag-queen RuPaul singing about genitals not having a gender, and the need for the public to accept that. Another recent Cyrus song had her singing about longing for death from an overdose to cope with inescapable memories of child abuse. Taylor Swift recently had a single with Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco, where they sang about spelling certain words, and how spelling is fun. Swift also had a newer song with lyrics about some catchphrase, how snakes and stones won't break her bones, because she's straight but supports gay rights. Swift is almost 30, while Cyrus is almost 27.

Swift has failed to evolve throughout her lifetime, while her celebrity/entertainer peers have matured around her.

Not really. Many of her fans were generated early on and carried over to each new album. Young is subjective, but I'd think most of them are adults by now.

And if you listen to her latest songs (Archer, You Need to Calm Down, Me), none of them are about men sucking (and one of them is more about people sucking in general and getting worked up about things for no reason).

And if you listen to her Reputation album, it's mostly optimistic about the outlook of love.

Yes, mostly her newer stuff. She's one of the extremely few pop artists I listen to. Kero Kero Bonito and I guess maybe The Tings Tings (more pop rock) are the only other artists that even get close in genre.

Edit: For modern pop, anyhow. I listen to a decent amount of older pop groups.
