Actually lighting up a smoke is "easier and more convenient" then pissing around changing coils and cleaning tanks. Also yes most folk use vaping to help quit the cigs. I know I did and it worked for me.

I tried vaping before cigarettes lol. Dumb, I know. Lots of people start because theres a negative stigma around cigarettes but vaping is more accepted especially by younger people. Vapes are just replacing cigs but people are still getting addicted to nicotine

Yep. The number of kids vaping now is pretty ridiculous. It doesn't help that vapes are actually allowed to be advertised, which the tobacco companies were quick to jump on.

Vape companies advertise to young people, they have reps in classrooms now to tell them that vaping is safer than cigarettes.

Personally I think people either smoke or vape because that's how they got started. There's no sense in debating the health pros/cons of each because people start for social reasons probably, not out of health. (Otherwise why would you start nicotine in any form) So unless someone is trying to quit altogether, they are not going to switch.

funnily enough, vaping helped my gramps quit. he tried it because it was hip and new 5 or 6 years ago or w/e, and within 3 months he was done with it because he just didn't like it and didn't go back to cigarettes. it's been that 5 or 6 years now and he's still not smoking. It's the longest he's ever quit for

The thing is you can get e-liquid that has no nic at all. The liquid kids are vaping probably is nic free. Although I personally don't see the point in vaping without nic.

Took me around a year. I slowly cut down the nic in my e-liquid and then just stopped. I smoked cigs from the age of around 15.

I tried vaping to quit smoking but it just wasn't the same. I need the burn of hot smoke hitting the back of my throat and lungs. So I went back to cigarettes.

I seem to remember early e-cigarettes not containing nicotine. Now that vaping has taken off, it seems most vaping products now contain nicotine. I don't think the industry should ever have been allowed to add nicotine to their products without advertising it explicitly as a stop smoking aid like Nicorette gum.

Over a decade ago when I was in high school, maybe 15% of kids smoked. Now at least 50% of kids are addicted to vaping.

To deal with the mental addiction would be my guess.

Part of the habit of smoking is actually habit, though chemical addiction does play a HUGE part in it don't get me wrong.

Having something similar tacitly speaking can help people not go back to smoking. I've heard if quite a few people going into vaping first with nicotine, then lowering the amount, and then sticking with a nicotine-less vape. Apparently that's helped them not smoke.

Or some kids think it's cool, of course. Smoking used to be seen as cool as well. At least with this they can think they're being cool without nicotine I guess.

Of course I live in a town a lot of kids start as young as like 8-10 years old. I don't know anyone that smokes that started older than 14. I'm 34. I smoked 18 years of my life and quit when I was 28. At this point, only being 34, I'd smoked more than half my life. Small town+stupid kids+easily available smokes+busy parents (who often smoked themselves)=dumb kids doing stupid things and starting smoking.

The amount of people who will buy a minor a pack of smokes is astounding in this town. Literally was getting them for free from someone I knew, but then her sister started babysitting us and got cut off. Had a friend's parents buying us smokes. People will hand over fist buy or give spares to minors. I'd found full and unopened packs lying on the sidewalk, multiple times.

I still feel like people would get addicted to vaping. Can't just stop an addict from being an addict by labeling it something else. Though presenting the idea more of it being used to quit and less as 'safer smoking' would be nice. But at the end of the day, people would have picked it up pretty hard I think.

Around here that rate has been MUCH higher on the smoking end, and is still higher on the smoking end. (It wasn't until 2003 smoking was banned from INSIDE the library!) Some people vape, not a lot. Heck, at the 'smoking classes' a kid literally was late smoking a cigarette. Lady knew. Nothing came about of it. No one really cares, the law is kinda upheld, but only barely.

Don't even get me started on how high the chew rate probably is. There were HS kids... oh I'd say about 12-13 years ago literally using chew at the summer detasseling job that were just told basically don't do it while working and don't draw attention to it.

I switched to vape for the convenience and because it was cheaper and I assume cleaner and safer than cigarette tobacco. Someone gave me a vape pen and a bunch of juice and that was the last day I had a cigarette, and I was up to two packs a day at that point. I wanted to test myself and see if I could actually replace cigarettes with vape and it was surprisingly easy for me. The hardest part was resisting the urge to reach for a pack of cigarettes.

I use Smok starter kits because they're compact and don't require maintenance other than changing the coils every week or two, which is about a 20 second process.
