Poll of the Day > So, I went to a strip club tonight.....

The girls were very nice, good dancers, the waitresses were friendly and constantly refilled drinks (endless drinks was part of the entrance fee, although I did tip them $1 each time they refilled my lemonade).

It was very sad though, almost none of the guys were tipping the girls that were dancing, some ended up finishing with no tips at all (there was 2 stages going). I tried to tip most of the dancers at least 2$, but often was the only one.

There was one good dancer who got a ton of tips though, like probably over 100 all together, she was much better then the rest, but I honestly don't get how they even come close to making min wage (most of them) based on what I saw tonight.

I did see many of them end up doing private dances though which are 30 with clothes on and 40 with no bra. Hopefully they end up making good money that way by the end of the night.

I have not gone since I was 19, and at that point I was shy/friendly and didn't want to hurt anyones feelings, so I let a dancer who was about my age now sit on my lap and spend time with me. I remember one of the waitresses was super hot though and the girl that sat on my lap told me she danced on Saturdays (I would have loved to go see her, but the club was in San Francisco which was too far for me to easily travel (This was before I had a car).

Anyway I blew about $60 total. I really felt bad for many of the dancers. None of them really seemed happy or to be enjoying dancing etc, which makes me sad. Really wish the people that did that job really enjoyed it, and that the men that go to such places would appreciate/tip them more.

I might go again sometime with friends, probably not solo again though, would prefer to go with a female friend so hopefully the dancers would not constantly come over and try and do private dances for me (find that very uncomfortable personally).

Oh well, there is one about a mile away from me and figured I'd try it out, since I was actually a bit past it trying out a new chinese place that actually had dumplings in a chili sauce (was only meh though sadly).

If they seem to be making more money giving lap dances I doubt a female presence would deter them. Hell you might be approached more with a lady friend with you.

Funny? story about lap dances.

Mom used to be a volunteer fire fighter. They ended up having some training thing out of town, stayed in a hotel and stuff.

A bunch of the guys wanna go to a strip club. Fine.

They then paid a for my mom to get a lap dance because they found it amusing. The exotic dancer was apparently apologizing the entire time. Mom apparently telling her that it was fine the entire time. Guy hooting joking and stuff.

Seeing how little you spent compared to me, I feel even more of an idiot when I agreed to have a private session with my friend and two dancers during his bachelor party at the Sapphire in Las Vegas. I was willing to waste $300 for the required bottle service but should have left soon as they mentioned later that the $300 was on top of the $500 individual fee for the one hour private session.

If anything, think I'm more mad at myself for not suggesting the Best Man take my place. I mighta been fine paying the $800 for both to enjoy it since I was bored the entire hour in that private booth. This was four years ago and part of me is still annoyed with myself for caving in.

At another bachelor party two years ago several of us spent $900-1000ish for our own table in the main dancing room at the Spearmint Rhino in Las Vegas. We were also given two bottles of liquor of our choice. Granted it wasn't a private private session but good grief that was a way better deal than what I paid by myself at the Sapphire. One other friend and I were still bored though and we just played on my phones or read news apps while our other friends enjoyed themselves.

Few dancers approached me and surprisingly were not pushy in getting me to buy a lap dance. Maybe it was my body language but they were actually polite in asking if I wanted company and a simple head shake from me was enough for them to leave me alone. Kinda weird to see that kinda customer service from a strip club but was a welcomed experience. Only thing that got me annoyed was when our actual waitress wasn't allowed to bring us water anymore. I ended up just taking a glass cup to the bathroom and drink from the sink. I can understand they would rather we drink the liquor, get more drunk, and spend more money but gotta let your customers stay hydrated as well.

Curious. Is it anything similar to restaurant laws where the owner is suppose to pay the difference between tip and wages or they're paid a fixed wage and they're on their own with tips?

Well the enterance fee is $22 , so perhaps some of that gets split between the dancers and they make a base wage as well (Like $12 an hour to be there all night......hopefully?).

The thing is, the girls that didn't get any tips at all? I think they also didn't get anyone to go have a private dance with them......so yeah, I hope they at least get $12/hr. Seriously not sure why any of them do that, as none seemed really enthusiastic or to be enjoying themselves, and you could make more in tips (let alone a for sure base wage in WA) as a waitress.

Not solo, maybe with some friends from Olympia, they had been hinting at wanting to go to a club for awhile. I'm pretty old, but even when I was young, it took alot to get me really interested (there was 1 girl in the strip club when I was 19 that I found really attractive and wanted to see dance, out of like 30 girls). It's not that i'm super picky, I'm not, its just I don't normally get attracted just by looks, and it takes something really special to overcome that.

I tipped mainly because I felt sorry for the girls, except one of them with glasses who I did find really attractive (She was on the side stage, which was dark until the end, I think they noticed me watching her and turned the lights on for her). Personally liked her the best and would have loved to see her dance more, she came up and thanked me for tipping her (I don't think the girls on the side stage normally get tipped...or noticed).

There were certainly pretty girls though, but the one with the most energy was the one that got over $100 in tips. I think they all may be burnt out a bit, or maybe it was a slow night (nobody was tipping much so they didn't really care). Not sure, but I felt for them.

Oh yeah, I did go to another strip club in my 20's I forgot about the time I went to one with friends and they had mud wrestling and I wrestled the 3 girls...that was fun. Can't believe I forgot that!!

Yeah the strip clubs here kind of suck. The ones I've been to are either very depressing or horribly skeevy.

Mexican strip clubs are so much better. The first one I went to in Cancun was sort of high end. I had a girl sit with me and we could fondle each other quite explicitly. I only had to buy her a "drink" every 15 minutes or so (a discreet bouncer would signal me when it was time). We got so into it that at one point most of the other patrons were watching us instead of the stage. We only stopped when the professional pole dancer came on. It was basically a nude and erotic circus soliel, she was doing the most wildest poses 10 feet up on the pole. Eventually the girl with me proposed that we go upstairs so that she could finish me off. I told her that I only had enough money left for a lap dance. She said she couldn't bare teasing me anymore and helped me pick out a girl from the bar. So I got an ok lap dance (hands on mind you) from a girl that seemed a bit drugged out. All in all, it was a great night and I only spent around $100.

The second club in Mexico was when my wife and I were honeymooning on the island of Cozumel. We asked a local policeman to direct us to a good one and when we got there it was a bit early. The madam and the ladies were just lounging around but were happy to see us. We just wanted a couple of drinks and a private dance. When we went into the little booth the power cut out and we ended up getting our strip tease to the tinny music from her cell phone. Funny good time.

Strip clubs are survival of the fittest - a lot of those girls don't make shit and get shuffled out fast. But never worry about how they're doing lol, the good ones pull in a lot of bank. By any means necessary. It adds up.

Tipping will always be lost on me. With that said most of the guys probably frequent the place so don't feel the need to tip someone for doing their job as much. Even more so when you've already paid a entrance fee.

They are not forced to do it in most cases and perhaps if they put in the work they would get tips. Guys don't have to salivate over a gal to appreciate the site too and they certainly don't need to throw money at them.

To be honest this has made me rethink my idea that prostitution should be legal and taxed. I still think it should mind you, but I always figured if it was made legal, only the girls who actually really enjoyed it would do the job. The girls would be happy, guys would be happy, lots of happiness all around.

But from what I saw last night, there was not very much happiness. There was certainly alot of guys there (over 30..maybe over 50?), so if each had tipped every girl just 1 dollar, and then more for the ones they really like, the girls would have really been making out.

Shrug, just seemed......off tbh, should be a place where women get to dance and show off their body and skills, while being appreciated. I can see so much potential for fun/enjoyment, but instead it was dark, quiet (only I clapped most of the time and eventually a guy near me started to as well), and shrug...sad.

There absolutely has to be better ones out there. I think dancing/stripping could be a rewarding/fun/exciting job...if given the right environment.

It seems more like...the dancing in this place was just used to show off their bodies and see who appreciated them, and then the dancers pretty much went to anyone who tipped and brought them back for private dances.

Shrug, it was an experience at least. Something new to try and educational I guess. Certainly nothing like all the strip clubs you see in movies/tv shows etc though.

Also: Alcohol would have helped your experience man or at least washed away the guilt and shame.

They said they were opened till 4 am (I stayed about...2 hours I think...till like 11pm), so I can see how they could make a decent amount just from private dances. Some of them seemed pretty desperate to be taken back for them though (and nobody was doing so).

I honestly don't get that.....unless they are being forced to dance by someone, and not allowed to do anything else to get food/money....why would you not just go get any customer service job or something?

The better girls (like the one who got probably 100$ in tips after dancing) just kept going back with guy after guys, so yeah, they make bank. I'm not sure how long they are back there, but I believe it's for 1 song...so less then 10 minutes. That means she easily had 6 people in the hour after dancing....so she made another $180 or so that hour (again at least). So for her it made sense for sure.

I'd say maybe 1/3rd off the rest got someone to take them back for a private dance though (if that), and generally just 1 person.

Still....estimating here, but I believe in the 2 hours I was there they went through all the girls once....so if every 2 hours they got brought back once for a 30$ dance...that would be $15 an hour average.

Not much more then min wage and WAY worse then any tipping job in WA (Since you get Min wage here + tips). Perhaps the dancers get that as well.

Still think pretty much all of them except that one girl could make more as a waitress though.

No guilt or shame for me, and I chatted with quite a few of them, like I said they are very nice. I one hundred percent support a woman (or man's) right to dance, show off their body, and I am willing to appreciate a girl when she is doing it.

I just want them to actually be happy/enjoy their jobs lol.

I don't need alcohol though, I do drink beer sometimes, but I have pretty much no inhibitions, don't get embarresed etc, never have. Used to rock back in the days when I actually partied with friends (in my 20's). Never needed to drink or do drugs to have a good time (so I was a great designated driver).

I don't think the girls felt shame or guilt either, but there wasn't really a "spark" in any of them. No excitement to be up on stage and watched by guys/appreciated etc. No real energy in the dances, even the one that got alot of tips (she was more acrobatic and probably the hottest looking (though I personally liked the one with glasses the most, but I find glasses sexy heh).

It was a friday night as well, I would imagine that is one of the more popular nights.

I dated a stripper in college, and yea strip clubs aren't as glamorous as people make them out to be (well, maybe the high-end ones, but not the ones near me). The girl was also in a bad place mentally since she hated her job and was only doing it because she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. Ended up being why we broke up since we were in completely different head spaces.

Thankfully she quit shortly after and went to hair dresser school. She ended up opening her own shop years later.

I'm anti-pimp, I think the girls should get the money they earn. What I would do is offer my services as a bodyguard to a bunch of girls for a flat fee per hour between them, then spend most of my time hanging out with em all between johns etc. Could actually be a kinda fun job, and I have the size/training to pull it off.

But I'd rather teach.
