NFL. I've been a Packers fan since I was young. I have no idea how I became a cheese head. Mum likes Vikings and dad likes Redskins. But I love the Packers.

Only been recently getting into NBA (2-3 years) and still don't have a team as I feel like a bandwagoner with any team I pick.

Exactly. Unless there is a blowout, it's basically a bunch of people scoring points until that last 5 minutes where defensive strategy comes into play.

theyre trying to speed up college football too. it doesnt mean the game is boring, just that it sometimes takes forever for some of these games to end. Im a huge cfb fan but 4 hour+ games should be rare. I can understand why networks would pressure a league into shortening the gametimes.

Im sorry mead but in this case, you have no idea what youre talking about.

No, he's actually pretty accurate. In a game that takes 3 hrs to play, there is on average something like 15 minutes of actual play. The average play takes about 8 seconds from snap to whistle. Unless you count walking/jogging back to the the huddle, huddling up, and walking/jogging to their positions to be action.

Very close. I would have guessed 15 as well. It's 11 minutes of play. And over 100 commercials per game

I was going by memory. I wasn't aware of the commercial count, though.

I'd forgotten just how boring a football game was until I went to an NFL game about a decade ago, and was forced to only watch THAT game -- other than a college game where some plants I walked by on the way to the stadium flared up my allergies something fierce to where I barely paid any attention to the game, I hadn't been to a game for 10-15 years before that. Because I'd been watching football exclusively on TV, there was always several games to flip around to during commercial breaks. The biggest waste of time was when someone scored a TD. It's TD, TV break, PAT, TV break, kickoff, TV break.

My uncle used to own a semi pro football team and watching that was bad enough. Couple guys who played for him made it to the pros, such as Gary Anderson (the kicker) and Ray Seals (defensive end).

I'm sure you would rather watch the coach talking to the players, scheming up plays, and getting players ready. You know it takes more time between special teams plays right? That's a perfect time for commercials.

When people complain about TD, Commercial, PAT, Commercial, Kickoff, Commercial it just shows they don't know how it really works. It just fills up between the plays.

Another reason I love football so much is many times it comes down to a final play with almost no clock left. It makes games where you have no rooting interest interesting.

Except when they have to contractually cut away from it, just when you were getting into it. I hate that!
