Some fuckers were actually filming this guy talk through his workout or something one cameras. They weren't cell phone cameras but like one handheld but still pretty professional one and then this other guy with another smaller one.

Like bitch, you know how hard it is to suffer through the daily humiliation of being a disgusting piece of shit, let alone how that feeling is multiplied several times over at the gym and you gotta FILM?

I eventually left because they didn't move from right beside the machine I wanted to use for like 40 minutes.

EDIT: To be clear this bothered me because I don't want to be in the background of some fitness video. That would be incredibly humiliating.

Nah, apparently he's supposed to be some sort of big deal. The guy at the front desk was trying to tell me when I asked about what was going on, and I tried to be polite but really I just wanted to know when they were leaving and if they were going to be around in the future.

People don't "care" but everybody judges a bit. And it is worse at the gym, and much worse in the background of a fitness video on the internet.

I have to work up the nerve to go to the gym so this seemed like god was mocking me by throwing this at me after I do work up said nerve.

That sounds like a good way to get meme'd, so I think it's a valid concern.

I'm not fat but I get self-conscious at the gym because it's outside of my comfort zone. I feel like I don't belong there, and like I'm going to make some stupid mistake on one of the machines and everyone will laugh at me. None of that has ever happened, but my brain is convinced it will and there's no convincing it otherwise.

I'm pretty insecure and have social anxiety but when I go to the gym that's one place idgaf what people think of me.

I worked out beside a group of body builders once doing some shoulder presses and I heard them make comments about not wanting to look like goofy (I was lanky and skinny) I ignored them and did my thing.

Honestly if your outta shape your looked at with more respect for at least being there. Just ignore the assholes.

There are gyms that expressly forbid cameras for this reason. You could look to see if one in your area has this rule.

But then how will they take their gym selfies to post on social media to show people they go to the gym

I'm not niave, but I don't want these people to care about me, and there are 2 important other things to consider:
1. People do make quick judgements all the time, they see a big fat guy and they have a brief character judgement, it may be so quick they don't notice the thought or it doesn't register, but everybody does this, I do this. It's human nature, I can live with it, but it is a bit humiliating when I think about it.
2. Much more important: This is a video for an (apparently) popular fitness channel or something, are you really telling me if that gets on the internet and there's a fat as fuck guy in the back there is a 0% chance that person won't be mocked or worse yet meme'd?

I don't want to be turned into the "donutBob" twitchEmoji on this guy's channel or some shit.

This was my thought. The irony of a really fat guy in the background of a fitness video would be very tempting to the meme gods. And if you're wearing any type of graphic tee that can be turned into a joke that makes it more likely

I understand that. It's why there shouldn't have been a camera there in the first place.

But still, TC wants to improve their health. Vain people like that shouldn't get in their way.
