Poll of the Day > 2 years ago this week I was traveling on the Alcan road to Alaska

it's weird that it's been 2 years already. I still haven't left Alaska since I crossed the border into it. And i don't know if I ever will now. I have like no reason to ever go to the lower 48 again. and I can't afford international travel.

the only things I hate is that the internet sometimes is not as good as it was in WA. and all the ice in the winter. snow is fine. but fuck the ice.

I thought you loved animals? Yet here you are, complaining about ice. Some animals depend on ice to survive, and our arctic regions are shrinking every year. How can you be so callous?

ice in the city is bad. it makes you fall on your ass. somehow I have managed to not slip 2 winters in a row. but I hate worrying about it. last winter, I was walking home from the mall, like 10 blocks or more. and I hit this patch of ice that stretched for like half a block. and I just started walking so fucking slow and cautiously. and it took forever. I kept thinking I was going to slip any second. I probably looked very silly during that.

ice in the wild, like for polar bears, is fine. give them all the ice, and keep out out of my city. none of the animals in anchorage need ice.

Put on crampons. I was stationed there for years. Its not that difficult.

Anchorage has moose, brown bears ducks eagles and things like that. Ice is as much an annoyance for them as me. Anchorage is in the south of Alaska. Those Polar Bears and their ice patches are thousands of miles to the north

My apartment is not that bad for those things. But my parents live by a bog. And during the summer the mosquitoes get crazy. They had to get this machine that suppresses them . I am not sure how it works but it has a motor and when it's on, it drives the mosquitoes away

How much is neet rent in Alaska? I'm tired of California.

Well I might have a job soon finally.

But for the time being i am paying $130 rent. But I don't know how they reached that number and it's different for everyone. It's not the normal rent. It's my low income housing amount

I don't actually know what normal rent is here

The key to walking on ice is to walk like a penguin. Keep your center of gravity forward, your feet pointed outwards, your knees loose, and your arms out from your sides.

To recap,

You and Far Que talked about animals that need ice here in Anchorage. That's....just not a thing

So i said that non alaskans sometimes have funny ideas about Alaska
Like thinking Anchorage exists in an arctic wasteland wirh iceflows and polar bears

Then Krazy Kirby got all weird and accused alaskans of having an inferiority complex and you came back all strangly defensive when I never said anything about your state

It's all weird and confusing but alright

Btw my rent as I mentioned is not the normal rent of my area. It's cause I am on low income housing and the government cuts me a break.
