Where'd you see that? I don't think the anime is going to go into July, that's just not how anime seasons work. Should be 2 left.

There may be some confusion with whether a source is counting the interview episodes as episodes or not.

I don't buy it. That's not how anime works. They won't have a slot. Shows have had to release their final episodes half a year later as a special release because they had a delay and couldn't get it out before the season ended and didn't have the slot (Blood Blockade Battlefront)

There were 3 ".5" episodes, and I think they're counting those in the 39. 36 is probably the last one. I imagine rolling rock will release separately down the line, if it does at all.

Yet it's a task they'll have to manage nonetheless. There's no such thing as getting "extension slots" into a new season.

Boogiepop had 18 episodes earlier this year, and they did it by working the team half to death (and LITERALLY to death, though it's unclear if that's related) to dump five episodes out in one day.

Don't mean to be a debbie downer, but I'm approaching 100% confidence that this will be the case. It may not be so obvious to people that don't follow stuff like this, but the idea that a series, even JoJo, would get an extension to finish up a few episodes into the summer season is, frankly, absurd. Hell, this would be the case if they needed ONE more episode, forget the implied 3.

Not to mention that DavidPro isn't huge, and they're already in full swing production on Fire Force, which very obviously has a lot of their resources devoted to it.

Don't shoot the messenger! Hell, just look at how absurd the idea that there's five episodes left. Maybe it was three or four it would be understandable, if not still almost no chance of happening, but frankly having five episodes left makes less sense than 2. They're going to pack these last two episodes tight, and I don't see any way they include the final special part.

Really, nothing would make me happier than being wrong, but I just don't see a world where I am in the current seasonal climate. If it WAS going to go past June, THAT would be a news story, not it ending at 36, while technically filling 39 slots with 3 ".5" episodes. That's not news, because that's what would just be assumed to be the case by people in the know.

I will gladly eat shit about being wrong forever if that's the case. I want to be.

Here's a leaked episode list from a year ago with 39 episodes that at the time was listed as probably fake but has so far kept up perfectly albeit very poorly translated.

Furthermore, 39 is the number used for the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray box set, and those definitely don't include recaps in the number if they're even included at all. For instance, Attack on Titan advertises its S1 box set as 25 episodes even though it had a 13.5 recap episode when it aired.

Also literally even the 9 episode Phantom Blood couldn't confine it's final boss to a single episode if you count the ship.

Actually it is a little off now that I look a little deeper. Baby Face/Head and White Album/Ice didn't get 2 eps each, they got 1 episode named after them each and "Head to Venice" between them, so everything past it on that list is happening 1 week earlier than indicated. So something coming up has to be wrong.

If that's the case then 3 of those episodes would just have to be converged to 2, assuming the very real opportunity of them cutting the last bit.

Chapter count aside, the actual content remaining excluding that could absolutely work in 2 episodes.
