Skybound Games has announced that the final two episodes of the PC version of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be exclusively available through the Epic Games Store. The PC version of the previous two episodes of the final season will also be added to the store.

This does not apply to anyone who's already purchased the Season Pass for TWD: The Final Season. If you've purchased the Season Pass through another PC game store--such as Steam--then you will still get the last two episodes through said retailer. However, if you've been buying episodes of the PC version of The Final Season individually, then you'll have to go through Epic for the last bits of the story.

"The team at Epic owns a major chapter in the history of the game industry," wrote Skybound Games CEO Ian Howe and president of interactive Dan Muray in a prepared joint-statement, according to Variety. "We're excited to work together on their latest transformative event with the launch of the Epic Games Store. Epic stepped up to the plate immediately to work with us in order to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season."

So glad I picked this up on Steam the moment the news broke about Telltale going under.

I do not trust the Epic Game store, I've heard negative murmurs about both their TOS and who owns them or something.

Much rather wait for people to use it a couple years and see how everything falls into place before throwing my hat (and financial details) in.

Glad I stopped after 2. I got the good Kenny ending and felt like that was a perfect spot to leave the series.

Turns out after reading what they did to him and just how average S3 was I made the right call.

That's fucking stupid. Imagine if you could only buy a movie in 1 store.

I sincerely hope either the Epic shop fails misserably, or devs stop making their shit exclusive on one platform.

I think this situation is a bit different than normal.

Telltale closed down. The people making this game now are salvaging it. They will make money on purchases made after the closure and whatever the retail release is (if there is one). But I doubt they're seeing anything from people who previously bought the game. I don't blame them at all for taking Epic's money. It's probably making up for it.

The people finishing this game off likely aren't going to make a lot of money from this and I doubt the people who have returned from being laid off from Telltale will have a long term job with the company.

Now is Epic being shitheads for paying for exclusivity? Maybe. But unless a company is going to be charitable this sorta stuff seems inevitable.

It's a shitty situation but this isn't exactly an ideal situation for an episodic game to be in. Last month it looked like the game was completely dead.
