State of Emergency was pretty bad.

This. I don't think many would dispute it.

I also didn't like GTAV and think RDR2 looks pretty bad.

This is every open world game, I've yet to see a single one that doesn't "break the illusion" easily. Doesn't make them not good, it's just a limitation of video games.

witcher 3?

most locations placed in the game serve a purpose.

the only real immersion-breaking filler are the hundreds of minor treasure chests or nests scattered everywhere but they do fit the theme of the world and they're mostly one and done instead of random stuff to artificially extend the longevity like repeated randomized events in other games(skyrim).

Has Rockstar ever released a good game?

Only reason why they're relevant is because the Mindless masses enjoys guns and explosions and not much else. They're the Michael Bay of gaming.

Truth. Too bad the mindless masses will never admit to this fact since they are infact mindless.

Imagine thinking this when Activision and CoD exist.

Manhunt 2 was a better game than Manhunt 1, people just don't want to give it credit because of that whole censoring thing they had no control over

Even RDR2 is terrible with its auto-aiming crutch.

Turn it off. I recommend this to everyone on every post-San Andreas R* game. There's no reason to leave auto aim on. Every R* game that allows you to turn off auto aim immediately becomes a lot better as a result

Are we separating the publisher Rockstar from the developer Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design)? Because they absolutely should be considered one of the best developers in history.

That one little studio in Scotland has made an incredible range of blockbuster games and cult classics, ranging from the mainline GTA games to the classic Lemmings puzzle series to oddball brilliance like Uniracers and Spacestation Silicon Valley to another massive modern series in Red Dead Redemption.

ONI, they pretend it never existed.
Came in to say this. It had some...interesting battle styles, but yeah, it's a complete mess. I can't think of a single R* game that had a good battle system, honestly. Even RDR2 is terrible with its auto-aiming crutch.

I thought Bungie made ONI

I loved Witcher 3 and its world but when it comes down to it there is almost nothing to do in any city or village. You have the bulletin board, a shop, a blacksmith, and that's it. Once you've cleared the board of the 1 or 2 hunts in each location there's little reason to spend time in any place that is not directly related to the main quest. And there's basically nothing for Geralt to do recreationally, like minigames and stuff.

GTA V for me. Story never grabbed me. The gameplay was there, but I think it was my least favorite out of the series.

it's a witcher game.. he's supposed to hunt monsters, solve local mysteries and help buddies in need for money/items/favors/general progress.

gwent is the recreational stuff along with fist fighting and horse riding...

GTA 4 was pretty bad

I thought everyone loved it now. Yea people bitched when it came out but nowadays it's remembered fondly

I've always loved 4. It's the game that made me buy my 360. If you include the two Episodes as one game it's my favorite GTA

I agree with all three of your sentences.

The problem is the auto-aiming is what makes it possible to actually do anything. Manually aiming is equally mediocre due to sluggishness. You'd think they would've improved on the RDR formula in eight years, but naw.

The specific criticism was that open worlds tend to lack depth, and Witcher 3 is not an exception. Every town in the game may as well be a diorama with how little actual interaction there is. It's honestly one of the few complaints I have about that game. But you're right, I forgot about Gwent, mostly because I didn't like it and thus didn't play it much at all.

To each his own I suppose, but I don't find it sluggish. Honestly I think they more or less perfected their third person shooting in Max Payne 3 and every game after that has felt similar controlwise.
