Highly highly highly recommend Spirit Circle. It's beautiful.

If you like Kaguya, the mangaka's previous work, IB - Instant Bullet is worth reading, but it never got an official english translation sadly.

Beastars is real good, and is getting an official translation soon.

keeping this up. haven't read anything recommended yet, mostly been reading about penguins and whatnot.

think I'm gonna place an order for a couple of the more interesting recs, like Kaguya-sama, Innocent, and Flowers of Evil. ideally I'd like to go digital but Flowers of Evil has a nice big set of omnibuses, while Innocent is proving hard to find in English? unless I'm missing something, all the volumes on Amazon are in French, which isn't an impossible barrier but kinda annoying.

neat. also I'll mention that 3 of my 4 favorites (Aku no Hana, Boku wa Mari no Naka, and Onani Master Kurosawa) all have a lot of very similar elements. two of them are actually written by the same author. so if you do like ""Flowers of Evil"" in the end, it's definitely worth looking into the other ones listed there.

Harem End is something I think normals should stay away from at all costs, but I posted it as part of my overall rankings just cause I figured I'd list all of my top stuff (and in case anyone else other than you was lurking the topic in search of manga recs)

Innocent might not be localized. Didn't look into that too much. Interesting that it's in French, though I guess unsurprising?

France has a pretty big market for Japanese media, doesn't it? that's always been my impression. seems like it has a healthy anime scene, and Japanese games tend to do better there than other parts of Europe.

Can confirm that France has official localisations for a lot of different series.

All my mangas are French only.

Due to some mid 2000 issues, America is now actually way ahead of france for official LN localisations though.

As someone reading through this right now, basically: Zootopia but in a school setting and if it didn't have to abide by the Disney G rating. It gets REALLY DARK. Deals with a lot of themes. Really fuckin good so far, I'm on like chapter 65 out of the 110 or so released so far.

yeah the anime is pretty controversial with many people hating it and very few loving it. I'm also among those who loved it. I think I do like the manga more, but that's only because of it being a more complete story.
