Yeah this actually isn't surprising at all. Really sad though seeing as the HotS team was easily the best one Blizzard had left when it comes to interacting with and designing around a community. It was never in anyone's eyes a successful game though, so this was just a matter of time.

Sadly this is true. This is like when a show is a "mid season release" or "Two episodes a week." Complete death sentence.

Blizzard fucked the game by putting more and more terrible maps in the game.

Worse is the complexity and number of the maps prevents competitive games between casual players.

Most of the playerbase just doesn't understand where to be and when to be there.

Hell at least thirty percent of the games i would play an ace would occur and instead of pushing for a nexus ending the game the winning team races to an objective because the map is yelling at them to be there.

Smart move. There's not enough room in the MOBA esports scene to support a third entry alongside Dota and LoL- they should ramp things down, keep HotS more casual, and put their esports efforts into Overwatch.

Dota is 100% a superior game mechanically but I can't be assed to play anything that essentially locks me in a room with toxic individuals for up to an hour just for one round.

I play a lot of HotS. I doubt this is going to affect me that much. They aren't going to stop supporting the game.... they support every game forever, even if they don't actively develop it that much. They'll stop releasing heroes and maps as often but that's no big deal.

The HGC was definitely a money loser so it's no surprise they junked it. Honestly surprised it took this long.
