i've still been finishing up Adventure Mode until recently and I assume I'm not the only one that's been focused on single player stuff / challenge board before really setting up b8 matches or even paying attention to b8 much but in between smashing times

I've been 100% in World of Light and the Spirit Board. Haven't even bought Nintendo Online yet.

Oh, and my god, this is reminding me how much I loved Snake in Brawl. Those tilts are among the most satisfying attacks in video games.

you can post the Arena ID (from the arena info button that's like on the top left of the arena... screen...) and people who aren't on your friends list can easily find it

i say this because it's become hard to track who's actually on my friends lists or not and then you can always just add people after you've smashed

Figures, even that wasn't so much a mistake.

Is there any way to counter/get out of his Side B? Like have you found people who can neutralize that aspect? I notice you don't overuse it, which keeps it from being too predictable.

also does Ridley take extra damage if he gets hit while charging his fireballs?

What did you think of my Mario? It sucks that I've literally just kept the same main from 4 to Ultimate but he still feels so good in my hands.

Any advice you have for me just off those matches?

You can struggle out of the Side B at early %s but if I notice you are a lower % I'll break the grab myself by jumping so it puts you in disadvantage instead. I'll get less damage out of it, but it's still definitely worth.

I usually like to go for Side Bs when people are playing defensive and holding shield more. So what I like to do is be fairly aggro and condition them to be shielding more which is when I'll go for more Side Bs. Another nifty way to get it is to just be dashing around and wait for them to wiff a dash attack or smash or something laggy, that will net a free Side B as well.

And yeah if you hit Ridley while he's charging (not after he starts shooting them) his mouth will blow up and he'll take like 20ish %

Though, there is 0 knockback on this hit so I've noticed at like 200% if I'm charging it and someone hits me with a smash attack, rather than straight up kill me, my mouth will just explode instead. So I'll still take a ton of damage, but at least I'm not dead.

Your Mario is pretty good and I'll give you a hint. Ridley doesn't like to be up close and personal. His best range is medium since he's got hella range on his d-tilt.

Once you get in, try not to just hit a smash but if you notice I'm shielding make sure you get that grab. Mario has better frame data than Ridley so make use of that when you manage to close the distance. Ridley's nair isn't safe on block so try and punish it with either a tilt or chase me down and grab me. Once you were grabbing more, I think you were getting a lot more % on me

See I read that the totally opposite because every time I was in close I got n-aired in the face and it chased me right the hell away. That's why in later matches I was trying to fireball harass you.

Also try and make use of the directional air dodge more. Since it's difficult to land in this game, if you notice me going to hit you while you are trying to land, try and directional air dodge left or right onto the stage. Usually my move will be laggy enough that I won't be able to punish you before you land safely.

I want in on this. My monitor has been having an issue where the signal spontaneously drops, but hopefully that will be fixed soon. Worst comes to worst, I can use tablet mode. Incidentally, does everyone have a wired adapter? I figure I should but I haven't bought one.

Yeah, get on that. I get so frustrated by lag deaths and they seem to happen more frequently than in past games thus far.

Accidental air dodge into death when getting hit near a ledge happens to everyone in this game. Nintendo netcode handles lag really strangely.

I actually cannot play tonight. I have dice class starting at 8 and I can't stay up after I get home around midnight because I work in the morning. I just figured we should set something up so there's nightly Battle Arenas, considering that was so much fun back in the Brawl days.
