Board 8 > ITT: Terrible ideas to make future contests more unpredictable and exciting

All matches are 24 hours, 2 matches a day, 128 characters bracket, unless otherwise noted.

1. Randomized Vote
Every vote is randomized. Basically you have the match pics and a button "Randomize My Vote" then it'll cast your vote to one of the characters in the match.

2. Middle Man
It's a three-way contest. However, the entrant who wins 2nd place will move forward instead of the 1st placer.

3. Losers Only
Only characters who have never previously won or survived a match in a GameFAQs Contest can enter the contest. (Other people on B8 have expressed this concept recently as well.)

4. All Fictional Characters
All fictional characters from all medium can be nominated.

5. One Vote per IP
Only one vote is allowed per IP THROUGHOUT the contest. So if you have voted this round you can't vote the next round.

6. Electoral Voter
Each GameFAQs board's vote will be represented by one user, whose vote will have different weight depending on the board's activity level and average active user count.

7. Oligarchy
Rather than voting, the mods and admin will discuss in a private board to come to a consensus of who should win the match.

The Legends of Zeldas: We nominate 128 Zelda characters. All the Links (and Zeldas) will get in separately to help fill the roster out.

5. One Vote per IP
Only one vote is allowed per IP THROUGHOUT the contest. So if you have voted this round you can't vote the next round.

I do kind of like this. People better think long and hard about which match they wanna vote in.

Hell, I'd even support a 4-battles per day format where you can only vote in one of the four.

Battle Royale

100 characters are thrown into a simultaneous poll. You still only get 1 vote. The loser is eliminated. The next match is repeated with 99 characters, and so on. To prevent the contest from lasting too long, the first 80 rounds are 12 hours each, and the final 20 are 24 hours. In the event of ties for last place, the poll will continue until there is a loser at the end of a 5 minute update, which will also delay the start of all future matches.

All losers are canonically viewed as lesser to their victors, and all those that proceed further into the tournament on the site, until the next contest.

Alternatively, this but with users allowed to split their votes within a match if they so choose. Or for extra fun, even between matches on the same day.

Ban all Nintendo and square characters. Except its actually a good idea.

The closer to 50% the match, the more your vote is worth. This is based on the 5 minute updates.

Whoever has the least votes wins, except he is under a certain quotas.
So that people litteraly rallying for character they want to lose while preventing the horror of a Guybrush win.
