The non-binding opinion was delivered by an advocate general of the European Court of Justice. While the advocate general's opinions are not binding, the court tends to follow them in the majority of its final rulings. Given that there's a coalition of groups trying to stop brexit, such that it will almost assuredly not get the votes it needs in Parliament, people were ramping up for a "hard brexit" (no deal) because that was presumed to be the only other option. With this new choice on the table, I think the likelihood of the deal getting passed is basically zero, because the only way to cancel it will be to reject the deal. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz.
