And all of that planning can only apply to driving? Seems like you agree if you don't drink responsibly you should be held accountable for that.

At this point in time you're literally arguing that a rape victim should be held accountable for rape. Is that really your ultimate position?

For anyone here still legitimately arguing this shit...

Do you understand why the date rape drug is rape? If yes, mentally substitute date rape drug with a lot of fucking alcohol as it ends up producing a nearly identical effect.

the core problem here is that the examples are not the same

a drunk person doing something
vs
a drunk person having something done to them

that's why your argument isn't sound

you assume that drunk sex is passed out sex. there are levels to inebriation.

or to put it better. im drunk, agree to have sex, have the sex, regret the choice the next day. its your fault, i had NO part in it.

Yeah

You can be charged with rape for very, very little alcohol in their system. There are a lot of people that think that if a girl has only had two drinks, she can no longer consent to sex, even if she's begging you to fuck her.

I'm not saying you're one of those people, and I'm not saying that anyone here is that kind of person, but those people do exist, and men have gone to jail for what I would refer to has regret sex, in which she though you were better while you were drunk. Better looking, funnier, whatever.

If this person is cold stone sober, and he takes advantage, then yeah, I would call that rape. If it's two people drinking, having fun, flirting and she latter claims to have been rapped, that's bull shit, IMO. Why wasn't the guy rapped then?

That's my only real opinion on the subject. I make me extreamly depressed because I'm pretty shy and have a lot of issues coming out of my shell and talking to people, unless I've drank a bit to loosen up. But you do this at a bar, and I will never have sex with a girl that's been drinking because I very much fear that she will regret it and claim rape. I live in Portland, and sadly this happens a lot around here. Well, not a lot, but common enough to be a legit issue, sadly

Examples of what? People thinking that? You don't think there are people out there that think even a drop of booze is grounds for non-consent?

Or do you want me to give you examples of how I'm shy and fear to even go up to women because I don't want to be perceived as a rapist? How do you want me to pull out and show you this social anxiety I have?

Or examples of things happening around me? Can't really do that when it's just overhearing people talking on the Max or listening to a YouTube video from the Young Turks or Steven Chowder. I'm sure I can Google something, but I don't really want to.

I'm just here to try to clear it up a bit, but I didn't read the whole topic. All I wanted to say is that it isn't rape if she's been drinking, but I can see how I can be perceived like that. So when do you know when it's okay to have sex with a girl who's having fun by drinking, when you're drinking with her and having fun? No one can answer that, because it really is up to the people involved.

It's a terrible issue that I just avoid and continue to be very sad and lonely because the only time women pay attention to me is when I go to a bar and drink a bit to come out of my shell, but I have to keep them at arms length and never go for it because I don't want to get into this issue, it make me scared.

I know right, back in the days if you wanted to score with someone who's better looking than you, you buy her drinks and she loses some of her inhibitions at the club and you take her home. Now, if you buy her a drink you're a rapist, sad.

Too many ITT conflating "being raped by definition regardless of whether alcohol is even present or not" and "having sex while drunk"

I didn't see the part where TC mentioned rohypnol.

Just to add to this, it would seem to me the only protection this law offers is actually as far as custody goes. "lol I was drunk she raped me it doesn't count as my kid" sort of thing. In any situation where there would be otherwise sober people people being raped the rules are the same.
