Well I mean, some can't be captured at all because they were only given away via event distribution.

But other than that, yeah, I've caught them all. I have a living dex. Working on a shiny living dex atm.

There's more than enough box space, with enough room left over for many forms/gender differences.

But, when you run out, you can always use another game or Pokebank for storage. That's what I do. Otherwise I wouldn't have room for all my bred/trained mons.

Nonono I don't mean space-wise, I mean like it's impossible to get an Arceus in the same game as a Gen 7 Pokemon, so it'd be impossible to have all 809 in the same game.

I'm not trolling, I'm legitimately wondering if it is even possible to have all 807 (not including the revealed metal ones) all in one game. I've been out of the loop for the last generation or so. It's a legitimate curiosity, given how difficult some Pokemon can be to obtain.

Dude, you can trade all the way up to gen 7 from as far back Ruby and Sapphire still. And they've given out at least 1 Arceus that I know of through an event this gen alone, let alone the ones they gave out last gen, and the gen before that.

Yeah they did away with the National Pokedex in Gen 7 for whatever reason, so anything not in the Alola Pokedex doesn't have a Pokedex description.

But you can still trade whatever Pokemon you have to it no problem.

You can still find Pokemon not in the Alola Pokedex in the game also, they just won't have dex descriptions.

It doesn't say anything, they're not in the pokedex at all. They don't even have a number displayed on their summary screen. Makes it kinda hard to remember national dex numbers for Alolan pokemon, since you only see them in Bank.

Also, other than gen 5 and gen 7, you've always been able to get every pokemon with just trading. Gen 2 could trade with gen 1 games. Gen 3 had FR/LG for all kanto pokemon and a bunch of Johto Pokemon, and Colosseum and XD had the rest of Johto Pokemon (besides Smeargle, who showed up in emerald). Between D/P and HG/SS, you had all pokemon from the first three gens. Between X/Y and OR/AS, you had every single pokemon available to catch.

5th gen was almost complete too, it was mostly just missing legendaries and starters from previous gens. Other than that, there were like 4 evolution lines missing.

Gen 7 is the first time when it's truly lacking, but we still have Pokebank and the GTS

I don't mean for each generation. I mean the idea of literally catching them all past generation 3. You either need a ton of time going through previous games, or you need to spam the GTS in the generations that is available. That's not particularly a fun sounding experience. Only those truly dedicated to it will bother doing all that. If all of them were available in one generation, that would be a lot more enticing to accomplish. I'd still expect that to be a 200+ hour experience, but it would be more worth it than the current methods.

One where you not only have the Pokedex complete, but within your boxes there is at least 1 of each evolution of every single Pokemon. That'd be all 809, all the forms, not just a filled up Pokedex (meaning you had them at one time).

So, you'd have a Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, not just a Venusaur.

That is for each generation. Between HeartGold and Diamond version, you can get 470ish out of 493 pokemon. With just X and Alpha sapphire, you can catch about 700ish of 721 pokemon. They put almost every pokemon from previous gens in the new games, and you only need to trade for version exclusives.
