Two interviews is dumb, why can't they both be on the same one? I guess if one is like HR and one is the actual team that makes sense. I still can't imagine spending an hour though unless it's an in-person interview

I hate video interviews the most, mainly because I don't know how to dress for them. I think wearing a tie in your own home is a bit weird but obviously I can't do it in my pajamas like in a phone interview. Plus who knows what they're looking at in your background and subconsciously judging you on.

I like in-person ones the most by far, I feel like it's easier for my personality to come through. Of course I probably also like them most because they are the last stage

i don't know where i'll set up because the only place i have a table would have my slat blinds in the background and my cat always jumps in those. i'm not sure if that's going to be inappropriate for a video interview?

I don't really know, I barely have video interviews so I don't know that much about the proper etiquette. I usually just end up winging it. Like I said, I don't really know what to wear for them, and I usually end up in front of something that doesn't look very good. It's hard to tell how it's going to come out until you see it on video. I mean I'll set up beforehand, but only like ten minutes before so not with enough time to really make things nice

i just gotta sit there i guess and tell them in advance sorry if my cat gets in the way lol

I'm guessing since this is a company that sells software they probably aren't super stodgy. Well, everywhere expects some professionalism but it's probably not gonna be as uptight as the insurance industry

it's a legit company. they've been around since they 80s. they're just small. i think they have a really serious hiring process because for this position you travel a lot and they don't want to hire someone and train them for 4 months just to have them quit or be a flake.

Lol I seriously almost put "unless they're some small software company from like the 80s" at the end of my post. I tend to be wary of companies like that (not in general, just in terms of my personal interests), but if they do video interviews I guess they must be at least somewhat with the times

I do plenty of interviews at work, a good chunk of them are over Skype... we always book an hour for them. Usually they last about 45 minutes and that gives us 15 minutes to discuss the candidate before the next interview.

I did have one that lasted close to two hours. That boy loved to talk.

Nah. I had never heard of this company but apparently it's pretty well known and regarded in the insurance industry. They only make software targeting insurance companies. That's how I was able to get an interview as a trainer even though I have no training experience. I have claim handling experience and I've used proprietary insurance software and that's all they were looking for.

Normal interview stuff I thought.

Start off with a brief introduction of the company and the position, then transition into a generic "tell me about yourself". Then we go into more technical questions and questions on past experience (as per your cover letter/resume). Follow it up by answering any questions the candidate has, and by then at least 40-45 minutes has gone by.
