The issue is that a memorial service in the immediate wake of a terrorist attack brought on by dangerous rhetoric from the president isn't the best time or place to stage a contentious religious statement that goes against the teachings of the people that were murdered, especially when the people making that contentious statement come from the people responsible for the rhetoric that spurred the attack in the first place.

Just because Trump and his administration are brain dead morons isn't an excuse to act as equally tonedeaf as they are.

One would think that the issue here is that they don't really represent the victims, and a whole bunch of rabbis from local congregations were proposed to the administration, yet they went with a controversial religious movement that incorporates Christianity into Judaism.

Eh. It's a bit of a reach to call it a direct contradiction. Believing in all the Jewish lore, plus that Jesus fulfills the Old Testament prophecy is a major point but the ideologies aren't diametrically opposed.

Think of it like this, in The Matrix when Morpheus found Neo and believed he was the one to fulfill the prophecy, there were those in the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar that didn't believe, but just because Morpheus did doesn't mean he was in direct contradiction to Trinity, and Tank, Dozer, or Mouse.

I would say it IS a direct contradiction, as a primary tenet is that the messiah hasn't appeared yet. I believe this is why the sect isn't recognized by most of the Jewish councils (forget the exact terminology), and why the "rabbi" was defrocked years ago.

In essence, they invited somebody who disputes a basic tenet of the faith of those who were murdered as well as a specific person who had been expelled as an official spiritual adviser to those who were murdered.
