All of the violence you see is actually highly staged and happens in very specific areas in the country (Mainly on the west coast, specifically SF and Seattle).

Well I'm not wrong. The idea that people actually think that the Democrats and Republicans actually believe in different things is absolutely astounding, furthermore, actually believing that a group like Antifa has any real power in this country is laughable at best.

I've had that happened once or twice on Facebook. Pretty sure one of them was me giving my two cent about the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. I made the comment that it is a different culture/region and they simply view dogs different from us. That it is no different than how we view cows versus how India view cows and if said person is that adamant against them eating dogs, then donate to provide them a different source of food. I don't think my comment was well received.

Also you were changing your tune here. Initially you were talking about "Antifa and white nationalists" which seems to imply just ordinary people out in the streets, and the idea that all of them are paid protestors is laughable. Then you seemed to imply you meant Dems and Repubs actually holding office, which is a different story, because yes they both have corporate influences, but it's still pretty laughable to act like they don't have any opposing ideals

Though I'd also argue that reducing things to "bOtH sIdEs ArE tHe SaMe" is a form of apathy since it tends to be a useless argument that doesn't teach us anything productive and lends itself to the person saying it attempting to absolve any responsibility for shitty ideas they might have

I'm reminded of a quote that went something like "Democrats will take from you without your knowledge, Republicans will take from you but will tell you what they took".

But no I am not talking about ordinary people in the streets. Ordinary people in the streets (That includes you and I) are completely oblivious of what is actually going on in this country, and most of us are completely clueless of even the basics of politics and will believe basically whatever they are told to.

If they are told to go out to rally because orange man bad (random example, I just find the phrase funny) then they will.

Because that was a very dumb decision. Around the same time I was writing a lot of things in double quotes and saw someone use parenthesis. And no I don't follow the people you think I follow.

Ordinary people cannot make any real impact in the government outside of local elections. State and Federal politics is driven heavily by corporations and special interest groups, even more so, I am not even confident that our government has any real control anymore compared to a company like Google which has the power to basically re-write history and control what people can and cannot say.
