Spoilers languages other than English exist and his name is based on one of them. It's also based on the Sun and not water (and Yuna's name is based on the moon, imagine that). It's just a coincidence that it looks like tide

Anytime I see people say this, I wonder if they realize the Japanese are smart enough to know the Romanization, and given that so many things like Dragonball use multiple puns from different languages for some characters, I guarantee you they did that on purpose.

Sin is almost always in water and uses water to do most of its destruction.

Spira has a relatively small landmass surrounded by vast amounts of ocean.

And the biggest sport in the world is played in water. Water's a big deal in FFX.

Obviously there is Kairi Namine or Zelda Peach for boy girl, but if somehow we ever had opposite gender twins I cant think of a great one.

I dont want to do Sora and Kairi or anything like that cause I think it would be weird to name them after a Ship...

I plan on naming my kid Phoenix, I've also considered Terra for a girl.

Only really want to do that if I think it could work as a normal name. I'd never do something too ridiculous though like Sephiroth

The last option is more concerning. Parents that wouldn't name their daughter Lara because of Lara Croft, for example, are even sadder. If you like the name, then use it... unless the kid's going to get bullied for it.

If there was a name I liked of a character in a video game, I'd use it unless it was just asking for jerks to be jerks...

Roxas is at least a real name... I mean, from what I have gathered no one has ever had it outside the Phillipeans, but Link, Cloud, Seph and Crono arent real names at all. 2 are normal words, ones an archaic word, and the other is half a word.
