At what point does a knife become long enough to be a sword?

I don't think there's a difference to begin with except for the purpose of the object. A knife is for cutting stuff and a sword is for killing people, but you can do both roles with both objects

That's not necessarily true.
A knife wasn't created with killing in mind. Most knives are generally used for basic survival necessities (cutting raw flesh, cutting rope, etc).
A sword on the other hand was made to pierce through enemies that were fairly armored/heavily armored from a sweeping distance (serves both as an attack weapon or defensive weapon).

So, a machete is just a really big knife?

Got no idea what it's made of, but it's light :) It's spring assisted, opens in 1 second.

Actually, yes.
Being stabbed with something that's been in someone's mouth is pretty much a guaranteed staph infection.

It's primary purpose was to cut large thick grass or branches that would of otherwise made crossing a forest or swamp a tribulation. It may also protect you from wolves or coyotes in the wild...

I live in an efficiency apartment (studio-ish) so most of my stuff is reachable. I have 4 machetes, a mason ornamental sword (sharp tip but no edge), an axe, a hatchet with a knife magnetically secured in the handle and a bunch of other knives.

I dont keep track of where they all are at any given time, but like I said, tiny apartment, so in a panic I will find several within a number of seconds even if I have to look around randomly.

Edit: autocorrect needs to fucking stop changing "in" to "I'm" wtf -_-

Swords were primarily meant as side-arms. They aren't great at anti-armored fighting. There are techniques to do it, but its not easy. If your opponent is heavily armored, you're much better with a weapon specialized for fighting armor, maces or pole-axes for example.

And on a battlefield, the primary weapon is usually some sort of spear.
