VENOM star Tom Hardy gave a surprising answer during a recent interview when asked to name his favourite scene from the new superhero film.

The 41-year-old British actor was being interviewed alongside Venom co-star Riz Ahmed when they were asked to nominate their favourite scene from the new Marvel film, which sees Hardy play an investigative journalist who transforms into a gruesome alter-ego.

Hardys not exactly PR-approved response? Things that arent in this movie.

The actor explained: There are, like, 30 to 40 minutes worth of scenes that arent in this movie all of them. Mad puppeteering scenes, dark comedy scenes. You know what I mean? They just never made it in.

Perhaps sensing that listing all the amazing scenes that were cut was not the best way to sell a movie to potential viewers, Ahmed interjected: Yeah, but thats because you enjoyed filming them

Doesnt mean they were any good? Is that what youre saying? That they werent no good? Hardy shot back.

Well, if they didnt make it into the film They probably werent any good, bro. Hate to break it to you, Ahmed told his co-star.

Also appearing in the film is Michelle Williams, marking a surprising foray into superhero fare for the four-time Academy Award-nominated actor. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she was open about the economic considerations that saw her accept a role in the blockbuster.

I wish there was always a clear, artistic line, but at a certain point, you have to square with the fact that youre getting older, you live in the world and you have needs, she said of taking the part.

In my twenties I wasnt cognisant of retirement, the housing market or college tuition. I just did whatever the fuck I wanted to do.

Now, I sometimes do what I want to do, but I also have to make decisions that take care of my family. So, the decision-making is all over the place. It used to be one thing, but now its many things.

Williams even admitted that superhero fare like Venom is not her cup of tea as a viewer.

The smaller movies are more me, those are the movies I like to see. If I get to see a movie, its probably going to be something microscopic or foreign. Thats just my taste. But, these kinds of movies open up other opportunities and possibilities in your life, she said.

Eventually, the obvious question was asked. Since Williams has taken the dive into superhero work, would she be interested in suiting up as a hero herself? Yes, itd be really fun, she admits. This is a great place to explore feelings and stories of epic proportions. When these films are good, they can provide such a fun outlet for that, both for the actors that make them and the audiences that watch them.

https://screenrant.com/venom-movie-pg-13-r-rated-cut/

The producers said there isn't one a couple of days ago.

Considering Hardy's example is dark comedy maybe they cut out all of the stuff that gave the movie a unique personality.

They were pretty vocal some time ago about going for a R rating but no solid confirmation. Its been believed recently that the movie was cut up to appease a more PG-13 rating.

They also were hinting at Spider-man until recently and now they're hinting at him for the sequels.

I honestly think they're vague about this shit as some vague attempt at hype. This movie was always going to be a generic toothless PG-13 movie. It's basically an Amazing Spider-man spiritual successor.

Well to be fair, it doesn't sound like she spends a lot of time on social media or is into the pop arts. During a Dawson's Creek cast reunion interview, she had no idea about the James Van Der Beek crying meme, and was totally shocked by it when someone showed it to her.

Or, or, or, sometimes we take into account of things like the people working on the film like the director (who doesn't have a great track record) or the studio (who also doesn't have a great track record) or some of the usual red flags, like the number of writers and our feelings on the trailers, to support our assumption about the film.
Let's not act like people are hating on this for no reason. It's okay to have your opinions of something pre-release. We all do it. The final product will ultimately either change your mind or it won't.

The odds are very clearly on this movie not being good. There certainly is a chance it could be enjoyable though.

I will still see it OW, but I'm mostly just very curious. I'm also a huge Tom Hardy fan. I like the entire superhero genre. I still expect this to easily be among the worst if not the worst superhero movie of the last 5 years.

Though I do have a hard time imagining this being worse than Fant4stic.

It's actually not ok to have an opinion of a movie you haven't seen. See it'd be different if people were just saying that there are red flags or that it seems to have similarities in production with previous films that flopped, but no people are saying "I'm not going to watch this shitty movie" and the kind of preconceived notion of a movie can be the difference between a movie having minor and completely flopping.

This is a completely valid and rational line of thinking. I can tell while you expect it to suck, you want it to be good. Other people get so hyped up on their prediction that it'll suck and the echo chamber of other people claiming it sucks before it even comes out that they actually want it to be garbage because they've become so invested in their own prediction. It has been happening with actors too. A good example of this is Ben Affleck as Batman and Jared Leto as the joker, both did a great job but people got so invested in their prediction of them sucking that it actually affected how their films performed and how their performances were judged.

But that's pretty much how things work. That's how people decide which movies that they will go see. They watch trailers and the studios attempt to put their best foot forward to entice movie goers to buy a ticket. And people generally decide if a movie looks good to them or not, before seeing the film. There are obvious other factors, but it ultimately comes down to if you feel like seeing a great/good/mediocre/shitty movie or not. And those assessments are perfectly fine to make.

A prediction is fine, it's people who claim they know the movie is terrible to the point that they root for it to be bad, cuz they'd rather avoid having to admit they were wrong than have an awesome Venom movie to enjoy.

Yes it is. You're going to sit here and tell me you've never seen something and thought, "Hmm, maybe I'll wait until I see more" or something like that? Congratulations, you had an opinion on a thing.
Like I said, in this instance, you have a studio with a spotty track record to begin with, rushing out a film that wasn't in very high demand, helmed by a director who only have one good movie under his name. Nobody's hating on the movie to be cool, they're looking at what's already there and there's a lot here to make someone skeptical or just outright turned off by the film. It's not rocket science.

They probably wouldn't come to that conclusion if Sony wasn't so bad at marketing and handling their movies in the first place.
And what's this about Homecoming? I remember the movie being showered with praise pre and post release, thanks to the positive reaction of him in Civil War. Of course there are people who dislike it but they're definitely in the minority.

I agree, but it's probably to leave open the chance to incorporate venom into other movies, or other characters into venom movies. I think they're planning on having a Venom Comic Universe that might just one day be able to join the MCU, cuz I k ke they're planning on having multiple Venom movies.
