Zelda II isn't terrible until the Death Mountain section. What genius decided the last area from the first game should be the gatekeeper for level 3 in the second one?

Being a long-ass maze full of unblockable hyper-aggressive bastards is the real problem with death mountain.
I wonder how many people just gave up, right there.

But the game that literally taught me THE borderline of what I could and couldn't endure was Chaos;Head. Got the true ending and had absolute zero will to get the rest. I felt so sick at times that I skipped a couple of meals. Guess I'm kind of weak to gore and stuff like that...

Saw the (... mediocre) anime, managed to play a little of the VN, but it has no legit release outside Japan, so I have been jonesing to play it in full for quite a while.

I had to use a fan translation to playit, and it was quite a pain in the ass to make it work back when I did. Didn't watch the anime (like hell I had enough balls to do so after playing), but the game is interesting despite the flaws. The MC however... I wish I could kill him myself several times trough the story. Still didn't deserved what happened to him. lol

You spend all this time getting invested in these characters and their stories, then somewhere near the end of the game you find out that they're not even real in their own world. They're characters from a video game, IN THE VIDEO GAME. I can't explain why I felt this way, but I was so appalled that I just turned it off right there on the spot and never played it again.

Major spoiler, but I somewhat feel you. I was like "Really?!" but I still 100% the hell outta it. All 300 trophies.
