I think it's fair to assume that anyone who pops in Mario 3 will call her Princess Toadstool, because that's her name in that game. Also, I'm pretty sure I read in some places that Toadstool and Peach are different people. And in another place I read that Peach is just Princess Toadstool's nickname. She was always Peach in Japan, in America she was just "Toadstool" Then they brought "Peach" in Super Mario 64. And since they, they have said her full name is Peach Toadstool. Literally all Mario media in the US just referred to her as Princess Toadstool until 1996 I think. There might have been a reference before Super Mario 64 proper in the west, but I'm pretty sure that was the first reference in a mainline game. The reason more people call her peach than toadstool is because more people started playing Mario after Super Mario 64. Also probably the vast majority of people who played Mario in the 80's grew up and stopped giving a shit about this stuff. (the same exact thing happend with the names Koopa and Bowser, btw. Except Bowser name made its west debut in Super Mario World I believe. And since they, they have said her full name is Peach Toadstool. Literally all Mario media in the US just referred to her as Princess Toadstool until 1996 I think. There might have been a reference before Super Mario 64 proper in the west, but I'm pretty sure that was the first reference in a mainline game. The reason more people call her peach than toadstool is because more people started playing Mario after Super Mario 64. Also probably the vast majority of people who played Mario in the 80's grew up and stopped giving a shit about this stuff. (the same exact thing happend with the names Koopa and Bowser, btw.
