I'm finding that the story is becoming a bit of disjointed and random and I'm losing interest a little bit during the orb hunting phase.

I'm gonna continue later and hopefully it picks back up a bit.

The game suffers a little bit from what they did with FFVI's back half.

The place I'm at now wasn't quite as pointless as I thought it was. The girl's academy seems to be sort of an important location for acquiring various things(like pearls)

One thing you should about Dq11 is that even a couple levels worth of XP is a MASSIVE power difference. You go from literally grinding through and struggling with random encounters, to smashing them to pieces.

The Auroral Serpent in Snaerfeld was giving me problems on hard, because he can one shot a character with his two attacks per round if I got unlucky. I had to debuff the hell out of him, to keep his damage low enough to survive, so I could beat him down. I just got back to Arboria, and I guess they really did it, huh? I'm assuming she doesn't stay gone for long.

Fuck you, Tatsunaga. I go into the fight feeling relatively confident, because not much at giving me problems leading up to the boss. Nope. Gotta attack first, fireball the fuck out of Rab, killing him, then use a critical hit on hero, killing him instantly. I couldn't recover from that. Such fucking bullshit. I raised Hero, and he immediately got smacked down again. Then he killed my only other person capable of raising, and there is no recovering. Fucking bullshit. Made even more salty in that I ended up eating half my gold, because I'd rather do that then lose out on the 35,000 XP I got from killing one of those metal hand things.

I didn't grind, but I did go in there with some yggdrasil leaves. RNG was a bit of a bitch, but I finally got him on my third or fourth try. I had to be very defensive, and even respec'd 8th to be sword and board to make use of their shield skills. Stupid fucking dragon.

I'm in the final dungeon right now, with an average party level of 50. Should I level up a bit before tackling the final boss? I haven't really been grinding XP since before Yggdrasil. @Leanaunfurled Tell me your XP farming tips and tricks. :3

Ok. I used Electro Light to change some enemies into a Metal King Slime, and then killed it. I was greeted with a 'this enemy is too weak to give XP' message. I thought metal slimes were exempt from the 'weaker mobs give no xp' rule.

Ok. Just killed 2 vicious liquid metal slimes and a metal king slime, and no XP. Guess they stop giving XP at level 50 or so? I have no idea. This is dumb. Guess I'm waiting until post game to try again.

It doesn't make sense though, because the enemies and the final dungeon give me XP just fine, but these don't?

After doing a bit of reading, apparently metal monsters don't give you any XP beyond a certain level. So, if I'm at level 50, and Metal King slimes aren't giving me any XP, there's no fucking way I'm going to last until reaching the level required to get those trophies. So, I'm turning that shit off. I went the entire game with it on anyways, so whatever.

I used Electro Light and Haullelujah to exp grind my party to level 99.

To copy paste what I told someone else:

Get into an easy fight, team is Erik, Rab, Sylvando, Jade. Defend until they're all pepped up. Swapped them out once they were pepped so they wouldn't lose it. Used the pep ability on Hero afterward (Luminary tree).

Save. Get into another fight, doesn't matter where, with Hero/Erik/Sylvando/Jade. Use Haullelujah, re-pep Hero via ability and re-pep Jade via pep pip. Swap out Erik for Rab. Use Electro Light to summon 3 metal slimes that scale to your level. If they run or the Electro ability fails, re-load. Otherwise, swap Sylvando out for Erik. Rab uses his sleep pep to make them snooze, crit them with Jade's Lightning Thrust and Erik's Critical Claim.

Rinse repeat. Takes about ~6 minutes to re-pep the team with the constant defending

Mordegon on hard difficulty is seriously making me consider turning it off. Not because he's difficult or anything, but because it's such a fucking slog to fight him. I spent the last hour and a half fighting his first form and his second form, wiping once on each of them because RNG decided to fuck with me. This isn't fun - it's frustrating.

Yeah, I turned off hard monsters just because it added tons of times to fights. It didn't add a ton of difficulty, just tedium.

I'm sure my next run will have a lot of challenges active, though.

Have to say, this is the first JRPG (aside from quirky ones like the Mario RPGs, Tactics Advance, and Pokmon) Ive ever enjoyed. Combat is fun for me for the first time; I think the controllable camera helps a lot.
