Didn't want to say it before and jinx it, but I love how the dungeons don't out stay their welcome. In general the map and dungeons are pretty compact in a good way, rarely more than one screen. I'm sure that's a 3DS holdover, but it works well.

DQ games are largely very stand-alone so all you really miss out on is familiarity with the monsters and spells plus the occasional series running gag like puff-puff.

Every Act 2 Quest completed except for 1 which I apparently cant take yet. All other sidequests doenllne, too.

Smooth sailing is almost heeeeeeeere.

Erik + Duel Wield + Dual Deadly + Dual Falcons + Pimping out Deftness = 4 hit 20% Crit rate per hit godmonster.

So I'm behind most of the folks in this topic, but does anyone have any clue how experience is working in this game? Like I love that everyone gains equal experience regardless of whether they're on the bench or not, but since like the beginning of the game it's been super confusing for me how every character seems to have their own very different exp requirement to hit the next level... and it changes to be way higher or even relatively lower like, every level. >_>

Like I've never finished a fight with any of my characters dead, yet because the requirements seem to fluctuate utterly randomly I've got characters passing each other in level and then falling behind them again. At a time or two someone's even out-leveled the Hero only to fall back below him again when their next level requirement ends up way higher than his.

I'd go delving into forums to try to find out if anyone has an answer but I don't want to risk any spoilers. Anyone have an idea?

Husband and I just got to part 2

I was pretty good at predicting the plot twists Then you became a fish. And the bad guy won. And everyone from your hometown is ALIVE!.

Pretty epic. We did miss several recipe books though. (and probably lots of other stuff.) You think you explore pretty well, but the game is so HUGE.

lol holy crap liquid metal slimes are as ridiculous as ever.

Just killed two in one fight and the whole party shot up from 30 to 32... then I found another one, killed it, then got Hallelujah off and everyone gained another level! Also the guaranteed drop from the power gave me a really nice hat that I imagine is pretty much impossible to get otherwise. Guessing the next couple of bosses will have significantly less bite after that. >_>

Just got all six orbs, Zoomed to Arboria, made an extra save, and am done for a while. Have a long day tomorrow and five days away next week so this seemed like a good enough stopping point. Don't want to be lost coming back, y'know?
