I don't mean outright lie but maybe mislead. I think a lot of people do this. You hear in the news sometimes some high executive resigns because they said they had a false degree

I've put out completely fake resumes before... like stuff where I'm born in the future, can control the weather and have twelve doctorates in zodiacology.

Definitely. But not to the point where I couldn't do my job. It wasn't technically fudged, though. It was stuff in my job descriptions for the job I had in the Air Force.

I encountered it a lot working in restaurants. Wasnt uncommon for people to lie about places they had worked or things they knew how to do. It was always really easy to see how skilled someone was in the kitchen though.

One guy claimed he learned to make sushi in Japan, I guess thinking that making sushi rolls was really simple. On one of his training shifts we had him show us what he could do and it was obvious he had never prepared sushi even once in his life. Guy couldnt even figure out how to get the rice to stick.

No one respected him after that and he ended up quitting before too long.

Never lie on a resume. If the company finds out (and they will) then they can terminate you on the spot for it regardless of how good a worker you are. Also, misleading is the same as lying. Don't try to sugarcoat it.

Hopefully this is just a really stupid joke, but they don't have to prove anything in court. Companies don't take you to court to terminate you.

Time traveller is a joke, but taking a company through years of litigation? That's hella fun

The only way you could possibly take a company to court for terminating you is if the termination was based on discrimination for something like gender, race, religion, etc. Termination for lying on a resume is perfectly fine, and if you take it to court, the judge will just laugh at your pathetic ass and throw the case out in less than a day.

Nope. If I bullshit on my resume, and get hired, I'm not gonna last long when I actually don't know what I'm doing. Maybe back in the day putting a fake degree or something on it flew , but these days places do background checks electronically (including proof of education, etc) so good luck with something like that.

Of course. The worst that will happen is that you don't get the job. If you get it and you're unqualified for it, then that's their problem - keep sending out more if you want.

If you're claiming to have a degree you don't have, that's not fudging, that's outright lying.

No, the worst thing that can happen is you get the job , you completely fuck up because you lack a core competency, and when prospective employers look into your job history they learn about that event. In theory, they could also sue you I guess. And, of course, some places (including Texas) have laws against lying about your education so faking a college degree could get you arrested.

Depends on what fudged means. Outright lied? Never. Massively upsold otherwise normal tasks? Of course, that's literally what resume writing is about.
