I can't believe that the majority of their fans wanted longer videos.

They went from moderately funny criticisms to dumb nitpicks that they really have to stretch.

Which tries to play up its own experience with film and theater as legitimate criticism

Then at the same time puts the "goofball" hat on by saying they're a non-serious site run by jerks

Run by men who have made careers out of using the cheapest of tricks and swindles to attract online attention

And then outputs content which takes a mixture of legitimate criticism, overzealous nitpickery, and outright lies, throws them into a blender and makes a gray and unrecognizable slurry out of it all

I confess. I have yet to take in any content by that channel simply due to the association, if only by name and nothing else. Maybe I'll give it a look some time this week.

Honestly, I prefer Lindsay Ellis and Every Frame a Picture for my film analysis and critique. They're good people.

I will, but ahead of that, honestly I don't think it's what I need. I've seen a lot of films, and honestly I think I'm at a point now where if I like it, I know enough about myself to know why.

What I'm saying is I don't need a channel dedicated to not making me feel guilty. Sometimes I like to feel a little guilty. :-P

Pretty much. They were funnier before they and their fanbase started taking themselves too seriously; now they want to ride a Daily Show level of having cake and eating it too where they can bask in the light of being seen as legitimate criticism while writing off subsequent criticism of their own formula with 'it's just a comedy series, bro.'

Honest Trailers beats them at every turn.

Like most YouTuber's, it started out pretty good but the last year or so, it's just random nitpicks of virtually everything. Much of the sins seems forced these days.

Yeah, I personally love the Fast and Furious movies but that doesn't stop their sin videos for them from being funny as hell. Fate of the Furious broke sin counter.

CinemaSins videos are literally produced by a drunk dude who watches the movie and pauses whenever he thinks of something to say about it and then just records it. They're filled to the brim with self-contradiction, misinfo, etc. And the guys who run it are total losers on account of how wishwashy and hypocritical they become when you point out these issues.

I like cinemasins. Just dont take every criticism as a serious criticism. Its just for laughs, not to invoke a serious review or analysis. I dont believe the guy writing the criticisms actually believes every single one is a valid criticism - he just makes stuff up that sounds funny for a scene, even if it only works taken completely out of context. If youve seen the movie, Im sure you can say that a sin isnt actually a sin because another scene explains it. I do so too.

I dont watch AVGN for positive insights either.
