Board 8 > Final Fantasy 13 vs. Final Fantasy 15, which is better?

Some recent discussions had me thinking about this. Neither is really fully supported by the fanbase, but each of them have a few fans and a bunch of haters. Which is hated less?

XV is better but both are top 5 games in the series

I've only played XV, but I suspect I'll like XIII more.

Only played XIII. XV looks sorta cool, but I still dont like that the party is exclusively guys with half of them looking like boy band rejects >_>

I've only played XIII but it's easily my favorite FF so far and everything I've heard about the issues of XV makes me fear that I would hate it.

That may be, but X-2 itself was a bad idea too.

which is why they learned from X-2 and improved vastly upon it with XV

Final Fantasy XV is a little bit better, but I'd rather replay FFXIII than FFXV for some reason. I think it's because FFXV is a fairly generic open world game with a very lacking and strangely presented story, not to mention terrible pacing, compared to what's out there. Still, there is more gameplay to it than FFXIII and there's certainly more to discover, but there are so many much better open world RPGs out there in my opinion.

Had FFXV come out a few years earlier, it might have been received a little better I think, at least its world and gameplay would have made a bigger impact.

Like, FFXIII's battle system can make you feel good when it comes together, but for most of the time it just feels restricted. I've always said its like a more limited version of a Tales game IMO

I haven't played the Sequels but I at least 100% XIII

I've only played FFXV for a bit

I vastly enjoy that battle system

if we're talking about stories, the whole encyclopedia reading thing was a pain in the ass. Especially with them starting the game and already using weird terms and phrases you don't understand. Also some of the story is tied to supplementary materials. XV is too but I just feel its more accessible.
The fact that XIII's is mostly japan only, and the game not really...giving you the story anyways, it just felt super annoying and incomplete

I can't speak for XV's story beyond that though

While I've only actually gotten around to beating XV I think both of them felt really empty. Neither of their worlds felt fully realized. There were cool concepts and unique ideas there for sure, but as soon as you start getting invested it feels like your cut off from the game and cant really explore. I wouldn't say they're bad games because of it. I just think they could be so much more, especially since other companies have already accomplished what they're trying to do.

That said I liked XV simply for the combat.

Anything beats Driving Simulator 15 (TM)

So disappointed there is no female playable characters. Its also not even really fantasy anymore.

I actually like FF13 and never got the hate. (that should go to FF13-2 for being made)
