I think a number of you are forgetting the amount of research and development thats gonna come out of a US army space initiative. A lot of this stuff will inevitably filter down into the consumer realm or at the very least trigger some additional non-military research.

Havent read the article so idk the ins and outs. All I know is I wouldnt like the idea of having nuclear warheads in space or whatever it is theyre planning. But anything that can advance technology has to be a good thing right?

1) Space Force will never actually happen
2) ITP: NASA doesn't exist

who says NASA has to be the only avenue of research into space...?

Not really sure what point youre making cos that just links me to other agencies involved in space research, some of them for the department of defence

Point Im making is this is essentially a diff branch of the military. Naturally theres gonna be more focused research into areas where the other agencies wouldnt really have had to explore, which will lead to advances in that field, which would eventually filter down into other fields like it always does

Idk if you know how research and development works lol but its not that difficult to comprehend

If more advances in space technology is your goal, just throw more money at NASA.

No ridiculous and unrealistic new military division needed.

But Trump gave NASA a new boss that canned all bigger projects, giving them more money now would just make him look weak...
