Hmm, Kino's Journey Shinomiya manga volume 4 (JP) is up for pre-order now, releases next Friday.

Stories include Blooming Prairie for the prologue and epilogue, Land of the Witch, Overprotection, and both parts of Tale of the Pictures. They're all LN Volume 2 stories aside from the prologue and epilogue, so it looks like this this manga's run will be following the trend of adapting one LN volume at a time.

finished mai hime. it was quite good

+ manages to have a ton of characters without any of them feeling like throwaways
+ is serious and sometimes dark without being edgy which is something a lot of shows (especially newer ones) seem to struggle with
+ amazing soundtrack (of course)

- pacing a bit weird. the show is divided into two distinct sections but I think the divide should have been sooner since the beginning feels stretched out and the second part feels squished
- ending is weak and sorta steps on some of the ideas the show set up beforehand
- potentially a lot more melodrama / love troubles / etc than you might be expecting from a magical girl battle show (this didn't bug me though)

would recommend to pretty much anyone unless they either really hate mostly female main casts or don't want anything serious in their shows at all

I had trouble getting to sleep tonight, and since almost all of my time this weekend will be going towards the CoD Black Ops 4 beta so I'll barely have any time to watch anime, I decided to stay awake and power through the remainder of ViVid Strike tonight before the beta goes online in the morning. I finished it, and I don't have much to say beyond a simple "holy shit." The inevitable Fuuka vs. Rinne fight was every bit as amazing as I had hoped, and the rest of the series building up to it was great too. I give it a 9/10, would definitely recommend to fans of action, mixed martial arts, violence, magical girls, yuri, and/or lolis. Especially MMA and lolis, though.

I'm gonna watch the OVA episode 13 and then I'm going to bed.

I guess I should also warn you that if you're going in expecting like, too many big magical girl fights you will probably also be disappointed. most fights in the show are rather short and not extremely complex or flashy.

oh I guess another big plus: the subs I found were really good. like, better than most official stuff is nowadays. I guess this is what happens when you pay your translators almost nothing

So apparently Sentai's gonna dub Girls' Last Tour, Mitsuboshi Colors, and Land Of The Lustrous. I doubt the Colors dub will be any good (since English VA's aren't very good at sounding that young) but this does give me a good reason for me to watch GLT again, and it moves LotL farther up my priority list. So yeah, that's neat.

So before I go back to the BO4 beta, I decided to look through the anime coming in the fall season ( http://anichart.net/fall-2018 ) and I literally only found one single new anime that interested me, and everything else is a sequel. On the bright side, at least that one single new anime I'm interested in looks really good.

I remember hearing people talking about the bunny girl show like, right when it got announced, so I'm a little curious. Not that it necessarily means it'll be good but it at least means it probably won't be generic or they wouldn't mention it specifically over other things

Hmm, looks like I've got only Gridman and SAO next season.

Might try out Conception and Ingress as well just to see how they turn out, but I'm not expecting anything spectacular. And for Seishun Buta, I'll be trying its light novel one of these days.

Next season is gonna be phenomenal for me

Goblin Slayer, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, Gridman seems cool, Gakkou no Juliet, Bunny Girl Senpai, Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru, kinda interested in the thing that looks like Hokuto no Ken

Gakkou no Juliet is gonna be pretty amazing. It's a Romeo and Juliet story, where they're the leaders of 2 opposing factions in their high school, but it's obviously a lot more slice of life-y and a bit more harem-y than Romeo and Juliet. And there's decidedly less pressure or expectation for them to die. Honestly it's such a feel good romance that by the end of it all, it'll probably end pretty happily. But most likely they'll have to overcome something big to reunite the house and be able to make their relationship public, that sorta thing. But the best thing here, Juliet is a bit of a deadpan kuudere type of character who openly returns Romeo's feelings, where I thought she was gonna go a bit of the tsundere route which would've been worse

Slime Tensei is a pretty interesting series. I don't consider it as great as most fans of the LN isekai culture because I think it wastes a lot of time with mundane things, and the threats never feel as real as LN isekais with more established world like in Shieldbro or Mushoku Tensei. You're sorta always thinking that the main character and his/her army are always gonna win out just because they're so goddamn OP. Maybe in anime form where the fats are cut and some of the less impactful fights and recruitments are more streamlined so they get to the conflicts a bit faster, this series could be a bit more enjoyable. The first several chapters are also very different from after he/she gets an army etc but uhh.. yeah I'd say a close comparison to this one is Re:Monster, which I also view similarly to Slime Tensei in terms of problems.

Gob Slayer is pretty self explanatory. I'd say the initial gore in the first ep or two is not representative of the rest of the series. Once it focuses Goblin Slayer, you know he's gonna find a way out one way or another

Bunny Senpai is like your average day Oregairu clone but as usual with Oregairu clones, it's considerably less great. A popular child actress hates the spotlight despite loving her job. So she wishes she could disappear, and suddenly, she becomes invisible to everybody's eyes. As an act of breaking free of her shells, she comes to school dressed as a bunny girl, where the main character is somehow still able to see her. The rest of the story becomes about coming to terms with her issues together and finding a way for her to become visible again before it's too late and she literally blinks out of existence.

Rest are either stuff I've never read or know very basic things about.

I'd say all 4 I described above will be worth watching. Gakkou no Juliet is easily the best one of all of them imo. It's one of my favorite mangas running atm. Goblin Slayer is gonna be very very good but some of the squeamish individuals won't be able to enjoy it since ever after the more gorey beginnings, a lot of it is about slaying goblins as the name implies.
