In addition to the various expected returning actors, Billy Dee Williams is back as Lando, Naomi Grant, Keri Russell, and Richard E. Grant are in as-yet-unannounced roles, and Carrie Fisher will reprise Leia using footage originally filmed for TFA rather than being recast or having her face CGd over someone else.
We desperately loved Carrie Fisher, says Abrams. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carries legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII. Oh hell yeah Lando. My favorite character in the original trilogy, I've been saying all along he has been sorely missed in the new trilogy.
