i have an extremely needy friend on a messenger group chat who expects answers to his posts THE MOMENT it's marked as seen by another person,or else he melts down and becomes a real drama-queen, ok?

i like reading the thread, and chatting with the group, but the insecurity of this guy ruins me ever wanting to look at it, for fear of my "seen" status popping, ok?

i've been trying to work around it (googled it, etc), but can't find a solution. thought maybe one of you knew, mayhaps.

Yes there is.
View it and then click the little "settings" tab and click "Mark as unread". It won't show as seen after that.
I guess it will be marked as "seen" temporarily, but, just be quick I guess.

Also, if it's a short post, you should be able to read it through the notification icon before even unlocking the phone...

chrome had an extension called "unseen" that worked great for a while, but then they found it was just spreading malware, ok?

Or alternately you could stop pandering to someone's ridiculous neurosis and pushiness, respond at the rate you want to respond, and tell that person to fuck off if they can't handle it.

I am so far beyond sick of trying to keep people like that happy. They need to be called on their shit at some point or they'll never learn to behave like a real person.
