Still gotta buy War for Azeroth in a couple weeks, but basically 15 bucks for everything and a month of play... not bad.

I'm never gonna pay a monthly fee for a game again, but not a bad deal.

I mean you can buy game time (and the entire expansion) for WoW gold now. You can convert WoW gold to Battle.Net money and buy anything off the Battle.Net app (other games, services etc)

I became interested in WoW very recently (I basically kinda broke down and started exploring all MMOs >_>), and it seems like... it's actually still very basic in many respects (like no player housing). What's the deal with that? I'm not trying to say it's a bad game but I figured they'd have like... player-owned underwater orc submarines and airships and stuff by now.

You clearly don't understand WoW if you think we need player houses.

WoW has always been about and always will be about raiding. All the effort goes into making the best raids out there.

And exploring. You can't explore when you're too busy doing nothing in your player house.

Yeah, I used to be an advocate for player housing, but after Warlords, I kinda never want my own little instanced corner of the world ever again.

Like okay, MAYBE if it was purely just a cosmetic collection deal but I never want "home base" to be like that again. The capitals are so much better.

I'm currently an ESO player and the overall atmosphere of the game is bland and brown. WoW looks very "cozy" for lack of a better term.

Is it worth it?

There were weeks where all I'd do is do my garrison missions and log out. Never had to leave. By the end of the expansion I think all long time players realized that's not the type of gameplay WoW should be offering.

This. It was worth the trial as players had asked for it, but ultimately it wasn't what WoW is about.

You're very right that WoW is vibrant, cozy at times, varied... it's very "storybook."

I think you can't really miss when $15 gives you 14 years of content.

I should clarify

Is the journey from level 1 to whatever the hell the level cap is now challenging? Are there quests that force me to travel the world and group with people

Or did they just make some kick-ass new raids and say fuck the rest like they usually do

I mean, it's pretty understanding why they do that. They still wanna attract new players who aren't hopelessly behind everyone else

Its not as faceroll as it used to be but leveling is still pretty easy now. Although the idea behind leveling is now more about experiencing the stories, exploring, learning your class, etc.

Most ppl have already leveled a few toons so I dont think blizzard has much of an incentive to dump resources into leveling for the few ppl who are interested in WoW but somehow avoided it for fifteen years

yeah you can't have the vanilla 1-60 level grind when there's soon to be 120 levels

altho apparently scaling is completely borked rn so killing mobs is really difficult at low levels

the problem is at least in the old days of levelling you had a lot more to look forward to with every level up

nowadays you'll be lucky if you see an ability every 8 levels

Really?

I played with a free week trial during Warlords I think (was like three years ago) and was annoyed as fuck that I was leveling too fast for the zone even without heirlooms and shit. I wanted to experience the new Azeroth (quit before Cataclysm) and it was just too easy.

They added level scaling to all of the old zones. So while zones have a minimum level, they have the following maximum levels:
Vanilla (EK and Kalimdor) scale up to level 60.
Outland and Northrend scale up to 80.
Cataclysm zones and Pandaria scale to 90.
Draenor scales to 100.
Broken Isles scale to 110.

So you can start a zone at level 20 and end at level 25. The mobs in the zone will scale to your level, meaning they'll be level 25 when you leave the zone.
