Impact upon release, or units sold, or how much they influenced later games. I think that's actually a pretty good list. I can't think of any serious omissions, and whether I like each of those games or not, I can't really deny how major they are. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. FFVII and MGS could be considered vital to shaping modern AAA gamings heavily cinematic approach to games. Doom pretty much started the modding community, right? Mortal Kombat created the ESRB and between that and Night Trap, popularized the idea that games could be violent or "sexy" (though lol at Night Traps controversy.) I'll also say Pokemon. SA1 was a way better game IMO but the only games that have copied it are its own sequels. Maybe some shovelware.
