For example, let's say there was a scientist who invented a cure for cancer, but he was caught on camera saying the N-word to some of fellow colleagues.

Are his inventions and accomplishments automatically invalidated for what he said? Should people boycott his cancer cure?

You don't even clarify if the person in question is non-black, since it's socially acceptable to say it if you are. I'm not complaining about that btw, I personally don't care, but it makes it impossible to answer the question.

It's a matter of having basic human decency, and while sane people wouldn't discredit a cure for a disease over it, it still shows who you are on the inside. You can be brilliant yet horrible.

Didn't you know that eating Papa John's makes you immune to cancer?

It taints the person's achievements because it shows that they were hiding something, ergo, the person becomes suspicious/untrustworthy. It also makes them look disgusting to some. If you're a business person, you have to understand what PR is. No one makes people say racial slurs other than themselves.

...just because you're racist doesnt make you a bad person. You're just racist. And it's a flaw like any other flaw and theres different degrees. Obviously with power it becomes a bigger problem (police, government, etc)

In this case, imagine Einstein was a racist, and he might as well could have, idk. It doesnt detract from what he achieved or contributed to the scientific field. Same with artists or athletes or the people who fund those ventures.

I agree with that, but same with Donald Sterling...being able to force your hand or forcibly remove something that you own because a private conversation was leaked without your consent...that's not a can of worms I want to see opened. If our entire posting and browsing history was made public how many of us would have jobs tomorrow?
