Went down a voice actress rabbit hole, found an album by a singer/voice actress called eri kitamura, you may know her for her role as Uni, and then i realized that in the same list she's the VA of remilia for the touhou castlevania game, loaded up a video and holy shit it sounds exactly like uni

I watched/played Nep Nep dubbed, so I'll have to look up if I know any of her other roles.

Wow, she does have some pretty big roles. Unfortunately, most of her biggest ones are in shows that I either haven't watched (like Yui in Angel Beats and Cure Berry in Fresh Precure) or shows that I watched dubbed instead (like Sayaka in Madoka Magica and Homura in Senran Kagura). The only show I've watched where I heard her in a decently big role was when she voiced Kagari/Chariot in Black Rock Shooter.

Izumo, Kagari/Chariot, and Sonoa stand out the most for me. I recognize a lot of other roles but not as best girls.

So a manga adaptation of the "Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record" mobile game was just announced. Seems to be based primarily on the story and cast of the mobile game, with some appearances from the main five Megucas as well. Hopefully it gets an anime later on.

I've been trying out the SMT mobile game. Pretty fun and I'm sure like many things it'd be fun if you had a bunch of people playing with you but mobile games is one of the hardest things to convince people to get into unless you have a lot of hype and dedication from multiple people like GFL did.

But especially coming from GFL, sure you can practically fuse into any demons you want eventually, but the problem is getting to the point where you can get any demon you want. And I think some demons are locked behind gacha which... has a fucking 0.5% rate for 5* are you kidding me. Even making it worse than that somehow, gem rate is ultra slow.

There are also a lot of weird UI quirks that scream "look at me, I'm different" instead of being practical, and the constant grating forced interactions in the tutorial in a game that has a lot of loading time in between practically any action (something that's a commonality in a lot of these mobage games with sweet ass graphics). But once you get past the part where the game seemingly plays itself 70% of the time, it is still plain ol' classic SMT.

It's like not as complex as some SMTs but more complex in other aspects. The half-turn mechanic from the mainline SMTs are in this game, but it works a bit different in that you can only gain half-turn from your current turn slot, aka if you're already in a half turn, then you can't get an additional half-turn, which is actually not a bad way to balance it a bit instead of turning every fight into an OTK fest.

The story is also not bad. Rika is easily the best character in just how quirky she is when she's not super dutiful and serious, and the maid girl handling the gacha, oh my fucking god she is both the scariest and the cutest and the saddest thing I've seen in a long time? I dunno how they managed it, but it's just this combination of her oddly demure smile, her dark eyes, her seemingly mentally damaged logic, and her subtle innocence. Honestly, the sad thing is that she doesn't really get a whole lot of scene of dialogue outside tutorial, but the little they showed of her, I wish she was just in the main story

But the amount they require you to farm to have fun is kinda silly. I'll have to see, but it is SMT. You're pretty free to get any team you want... just below 4*. Lots of iconic and fun demons in the 3* pool though. I have a team of Sandalphon, Mermaid (which is one of my favorite demon design), Cerberus, and Horus.

The game's also pretty. I think it's a sneak peek as to how the Switch version will look

The gacha rates are bad, but technically you can fuse into any demon in the game. You get them by talking to them in a classic SMT fashion, which quickly stocks your inventory with a bunch of fodders to fuse chain into whatever you want.

The only big benefit to gacha is that it gives whatever you rolled a random skill, except then you can fuse that random skill from a 3* you might've rolled into something much better

So it's not bad, but if you love gachas and gambling it's not good.

I'm just about to sit down and watch the first (dubbed) episode of Angels Of Death. I've been hyped for this show and its premise for a while, and it takes a lot to get me interested in what is effectively a horror anime. I wonder who they got to voice that psychopath Zack?

EDIT: Rachel's voice sounds cute. I can't really tell who it is voicing her though. I guess I'll find out later on.
EDIT2: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Holy shit, it's Dallas Reid! They actually got the same guy who voiced Asta in the Black Clover dub to voice Zack! His psychotic laugh was even more amazing that I expected too! This is going to be amazing!

A huge recommendation among a lot of things I've read recently.

Game obu Familia - Family Senki (manga, not sure if there's a novelization)

Not a lot of chapters available quite yet, but consider me hooked from the few I've read. A guy and his step-mother and step-aunts get sucked into this world that's at a brink of being run over by these crazy zombie-like monsters. Fortunately, his step-mother and step-aunts are all prodigies in their own way and are capable enough to change the world. He, on the other hand, is not too special in comparison, but has one thing, a sharp and cold wit. In order to obtain great power but not sacrifice the well-being of his family, he sacrifices his entire being and decides to become their silent and objective support, but how far will his self-sacrifice go?

It does have violence obviously, and some ecchi contents, but very entertaining. With this genre, the cash grabs usually have a prompt, and then it goes nowhere outside of the prompt, so this story, as well, could very well just crash and burn. But we'll have to see. I'm liking it so far, but there haven't been enough chapters to focus on each of the girls yet. We get to learn plenty about the guy though, and I like the role that he's set for himself, especially because you don't quite get that that's where the story is going until he lays out that that's gonna be his plan

Finally started to watch some anime from this season.

Banana Fish - Intriguing story about mafia and the mystery of what IS Banana Fish.

Cell's At Work - Adorkable. It's going to be irreverent and just nonsense, and I love it.

Island - I am intrigued by the mystery, but I fear it's gonna turn into a harem.
