Vote Yes or No

Third option if you wanna explain how you feel because you're too ambivalent about the situation (which is perfectly understandable)

What do you guys think?

yes, the US does meet the conditions of some definitions of imperalism. But its a rather vague term when used without context.

In some contexts, but what North Korea does is worse than the US's current "imperialist" actions so they're not really in a position to throw stones and deflect.

Absolutely, and it's delusional or ignorant to think otherwise. We have become the British from whom we seceded.

We are absolutely an imperial nation, and have been since post WWII. Thats when the CIA decided to mess with everybodys business and we became the self-appointed world police against communism while ironically removing democratically elected officials in favor of brutal dictators.

Watch Oliver Stones series called The Untold History of the United States - its what convinced me of our imperialism.

lolwut? Our actual imperialist days go back earlier than that. And the fact that we meddle in other nations' affairs doesn't automatically make us imperialist. Granted, the bar for "imperialism" has fallen so far that even bailing out other nations directly qualifies now.

Well if soft power can be applied to imperialism then probably. That said just about every Western nation fits that bill, we're just the best at it.

America more than any other country likes to exert influence over the affairs of other countries.

But it's not so much the will of a single king as it is the super rich who have influence over politicians.

I don't think you can be best at forcing people down if you go on a 10 year campaign and fail.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, but America has basically had it's way with the world economically for decades.

Edit: Actually I think you might be talking about our military action in Afghanistan, which is hard power.

WWII profiteering. The US hasn't got a sustainable model and is slowly losing its gains from the war.
