It's pretty well known in the black community that homophobia is pretty strong so this isn't exactly news, don't you remember how mad people got back then when gays claimed their struggle was the same as African Americans for equal rights and treatment?

It's fucking hilarious how DMX bashes gays in that song yet repeatedly tells other men to suck his dick in that very same song.

nah just more open about it

when a white guy gets uncomfortable about gay stuff he'll just keep quiet, usually

when a black guy gets uncomfortable about gay stuff he might say pause or something

Well, we don't say pause in response to actual gay shit because we're uncomfortable. When I say actual gay shit I mean two guys kissing or a man coming on to another man. Pause is just conversational things that sound gay. It is treated more as a game. Like if we're talking about breakfast and some guy says "I need to start my day with a hot sausage. My day isn't right if I don't get that!" you're getting paused.

We are generally more outspoken about things but I think in general we are seen as being more homophobic while simultaneously having more flamboyantly gay males than other races. And ours are EXTRA flamboyant. It's great haha.

I honestly don't believe that. Black guys tend to react harder because in black male circles there's way more importance placed on a guy's masculinity vs other traits, and there's research showing that in impoverished communities masculinity is often a replacement for more scarce symbols of male status like wealth.

While gays have always been treated harshly and killed, their identity wasnt stolen from them and forced into slavery for a few hundred years. African Americans had were literally forced to build a country that still doesnt respect them.

Different struggles.

I love how people like calling the African-American community homophobic when the almost all white Republican house just laid the foundation for state sponsored adoption agencies to not let gay people adopt children from them.

Well, we are. I also don't think we're MORE homophobic than other groups though. Asian communities are very homophobic, white people, etc. I think the above poster was spot on when he just mentioned us being more outspoken about it.

yeah, it sounds like tremain gets that while at the same time acknowledging that casual homophobia is still a noticeable thing in black american communities and media

its kind of a noticeable thing in all racial demographics and you learn it pretty quick when you're an actual homosexual lol

Akinyele's song "Put it in my Mouth" was surprisingly progressive for the time. It included the line:

What do you choose to lick? Pussy or dick?
People throughout the world; it's your pick!
