Again, in GENERAL. Some circumstances may warrant one over the other. But assume all things are equal in this case.

Physical. Digital takes too long to download, sometimes messes up while downloading and you have to restart, etc.

I prefer a physical copy of my games. Digital is okay though.

I still like collecting physical copies, but digital really are more convenient. I have way more digital games thanks to Steam, but I usually buy physical for consoles unless something is on sale.

PC: Digital
Console: Physical

Having the ability to actually sell your games when finished with them is far better than not.

I had to call Sony one time to cancel my purchase/download of Persona 5 and then I just drove to the store and bought it.

I started the download on Friday morning, because I planned of spending the evening playing the game. I planned my whole day around it and expected it to be finished when I got home.

Around 8pm, it was just frozen. I wasnt about to spend Friday night twiddling my thumbs waiting for the download to inch forward.

I called Sony, canceled the transaction, and bought a physical copy.

Also? I cant sell my digital games when Im done with them.

Digital

It's cleaner, tidier, more convenient, environmentally friendly, and I just love that I can have all my games directly on my system.

And I can start playing them at midnight on launch day instead of waiting for stores to open or for it to arrive in the mail.

Funny how ppls laziness is going to usher in an age where crap will still be full price years down the line

I remember when i first got a 360 in 2012, i bought fable 2 used for $5. Enjoyed it, so i took a look at its dlc....they were all $10+. How tf is the dlc which is a sliver of the full game twice the price? What a joke

Physical if it's a game that I'm not sure how good it will be or how long I'll be playing it, so I can sell it for store credit if it's not as good as I was hoping or if the game didn't last very long. Digital if it's a game that I've been highly anticipating and know for a fact that I'll play a lot, OR if a game I was on the fence on buying goes on sale for significantly cheaper than the physical version. Since I buy less games in general now, a much higher percentage of the games I buy fall into this category, so I buy mostly digital these days.

I've mostly been physical, but digital is growing on me more and more. Being able to pre download games so they're ready to play by midnight or early the next day is nice. I tend to stick with physical so I have trade in value if I need it, but for games I know I won't be trading in and want to keep I've been going digital lately.

Digital
Pros:
-Can download days/weeks early and begin right at midnight of release.
-No dealing with scratched discs or getting up to change games.
-It's always there wherever you bring your console. No accidentally forgetting the games at home.

Cons:
-Impossible to resell/return.
-No pre-order bonuses (I don't think?).
-Some people like having cases to line up and look pretty.
-Might require purchasing additional hard drive space on console if memory runs out.

Physical
Pros:
-If you're lucky, can get the game a day or two early, or even at like a 7PM early release.
-Resell/return value if you don't like it and/or finish it and want to trade it in for value towards another game.
-Preorder bonuses.

Cons:
-Have to go to the store and/or order online, which means it might not get to you right on opening day (lots of people freaking out about Amazon preorders atm).
-Take up physical space, have to switch discs, etc.
-Risk of disc/cartridge scratching.

tl;dr: I don't really think there's a wrong answer tbh

Digital has game sharing, so I'll always choose that if it's a co-op game.

If it's single player, I prefer physical.
