One of my doctors said it shouldn't be the meds since they don't make people gain as much weight as I have taking them. In case you're wondering, I'm taking anti-depressants.

I don't know how I've been gaining weight when I eat the same amount. Hell, I'm pretty sure I'm consuming less calories than before. Last year I was eating taco bell and other fast food almost daily and I wasn't this fat.

Right now I mostly stick with carbs until I figure out a proper diet. You see, I have irritable bowel syndrome. Despite getting fatter and fatter, everything on my blood results came back just fine.

I'm going to do some searching right now. I guess I just wanted to vent this because I'm tired of many things and one of those things is my weight.

Like... stick with carbs as in that's a primary source of intake? Do you at least work out to burn off that raw lard you're pounding? Lol. Carbs aren't meant to be a primary food group, and cutting back on them, and increasing healthier intake is the goal.

Doesn't mean eat 100% lettuce, but if weight loss is the goal carbs are only after nothing at all in worst things for you.

Not exactly. I still consume proteins and all.

I used to eat pastries almost every day for a period last year. I did gain weight from eating unhealthy. But now that I'm kinda taking care of myself, I've become heavier than ever.

I still think it's the damn meds but I feel like that's an excuse for some reason. I'm so confused. My doctor said one thing, another said something else, and I keep reading other things online.

if the meds are really the only thing that's changed, occam's razor tells us that's probably the reason
medication interacts with different people differently right

Anti-psychotics make you gain, but I'm not sure about your case

I mean, I've lost weight many times before. I know how to eat healthy.

But with IBS, my 'diet' has considerably changed. Take a look at the red section below (foods I can't eat):

https://www.ibsdiets.org/fodmap-diet/fodmap-food-list/

If I could eat broccoli, mixed vegetables, oatmeal, beans, and other stuff, I wouldn't have much of a problem. But even some of the foods I can eat have to be in limited quantities because of IBS.

Meds can definitely influence weight gain but calories in vs out is still a major concern. Yes, you ate more fast food before but you could still be eating over maintenance without knowing. For example, you could easily eat more calories in one snack sitting on a bag of trail mix or bag of nuts than a meal at Taco Bell because of how much dense in calories are. Again, I said snack which means you could easily follow that up with dinner. I would recommend keeping track of what you are eating for a week before confronting your doctor about the meds.
