Beyond that, a restaurant being busy does not equal "being short-staffed with shitty service", and if it did you'd have found that out by reading reviews before you made any attempt to bring her there, which I'm guessing you didn't do.

You're mad, but she sees it for what it is. Sounds like you didn't put any real effort in, you just threw money at her birthday hoping it would be enough. Do better next year.

I would have looked for another place after 15 minutes but it's really not that big of a deal either way. It's shitty that it's a long wait but getting angry solves nothing.

No, its not 100% on either one of us. I shouldve thought ahead and she shouldnt have blown up when I still did everything I could. We had a blast of a day. But she suffers from bipolar disorder and just started new medication so were in a bit of a transition.

Shes a wonderful girl. She just has some mental stuff to deal with. Im on my own antidepressants, so it helps me understand her while shes getting used to her new medication. Its a patience thing.

I had a nightmare girlfriend birthday scenario with my ex. The plan was big pregame at our hotel room with her and a load of her friends. Like, at least a dozen. We did champagne, cake, and a bit of pregaming. Then the plan was to go to dinner and then a club.

Dinner was going well, but for some reason she had to go back to the hotel. I can't remember why, I think she forgot her ID or wallet or something. Now, I had been semi keeping my distance throughout the night, giving her time to hang with her friends she doesn't get to see all the time, as opposed to me, who she obviously saw on a regular basis.

So before she goes back to the hotel, we get our situations straight; she's heading back to the hotel being driven by her sister, and a second friend is going with them to get something she forgot too or something like that. That leaves me with like eight other people, seven of whom I don't know like at all, or had met once before at most. She sits there and tells me to basically HERD everyone to the club, despite knowing the fact that, hey, I'm really not a good person to put in the spotlight. She knew that. But I try my best, a quick shout or two of "here we go, next stop (club name)!!"

It was walking distance, like two blocks away at most. But at some point along the way, half the group disappeared. Obviously I'm just some random dude they don't know, so they didn't bother to tell me because I'm not any leader of the group or anything. I just turn around when we arrive at the club and half of them are gone. They just went off somewhere else, I think to a new club.

So I and like three other people get to the club and are waiting outside. Girlfriend arrives and is dropped off. The friend that was with her was gone, and her sister, the driver, drove off. That leaves like five of us left.

And she is PISSEDDDD. She's like fucking laying into me right there in line, like "WHY COULDN'T YOU CONTROL THESE PEOPLE" and just other dumb stuff like that. Basically blaming me for the fact that she couldn't communicate with other people and my inability to shepherd a bunch of people who I don't fucking know. So she was silent the rest of the night to me, making these snarky comments, and being just a shitty person. I almost left on the spot, I was so over it. In hindsight, I wished I had, but hey here I am trying to be the good boyfriend.

Like really? I'm not here to clomp on your party. Instead of putting me in charge and monopolizing all your time, why not entrust your like four best friends who also know everyone with the responsibility of keeping the plan in order.

It was brutal. Which doesn't even get into the fact that I despise clubs.

I broke up with her a while later. Not that night, but a few months later, because situations like that just kept mounting up. She had real anger issues tbh

My birthday is in late December. A few weeks before my birthday my girlfriend told me about how her coworker suggested they go to NYC for New Year, but my girlfriend told her that flights would be expensive, and that they had to work the 28th or whatever and that it wouldn't be worth the trip. But then her boss overheard and said that they could take the 28th off since he was gonna send everyone home early anyway. But my girlfriend said it would still be so expensive. Then her coworker said she found tickets for like $600 and my girlfriend was like OMG REALLY?

So she's telling me all this, basically listing how the stars aligned for her to go to NYC for New Year, and she's like "But i'd be missing your 25th birthday, if you don't want me to go then i don't have to." I was fucking cornered, if i say no she'll resent me. If i say yes she'll miss my 25th birthday. I ended up just telling her to go and enjoy it. She said we'll celebrate later however i want. I ended up having a blast on my birthday without her, which i think made her feel a little bad. So she comes back asks me what i want to do for my birthday, and i can't really think of anything in particular, so i was like "Do you think you can ask your work for Universal Studio tickets and we can just have a day over there?" And she's like sure.

So a few months roll around and HER 25th birthday comes and i can't really make it because it's the same time as my sister's 30th birthday. I end up going to both parties. A couple of weeks later i mention we haven't celebrated my birthday yet, and it's a little fucked up that we haven't done it yet. Then she's like "You never told me what you wanted to do!"
And i'm just like "I said lets go to Universal Studios, and asked you could get the tickets from your work" And she's like "But you never told me when!" At this point i was like fuck it. And told her i'd rather just get drunk and watch movies and eat crownies, and so that's what we did. Like a month ago.

I mean, i know i could have put my foot down in the beginning and told her not to go to NYC, but you guys get where I didn't want her to resent me for it right? But should i have been more proactive about making plans for my birthday after she had missed it? It's not like i have a super busy schedule, she could have easily said "hey this weekend, do you want to go celebrate your birthday, i can get the tickets from work this week."
