2ng generation for me, the Spectrum, although the first console I owned was a Master System, which is 3rd generation.

For me, my favourite generations are 4th, 5th and 7th.

I'm surprised so many people started with the 3rd generation. I got the impression that most people on CE these days were much later. I mean, it sometimes feels like people started with the PS3 and 360, which is pretty sad. These people wouldn't appreciate side-scrolling platformers, or actually hard gameplay.

SNES even though the N64 had been out for a couple years when I started.

Atari 2600, ColecoVision, and the NES were all in the house when I started to play games. So both the second and third.

The ZX Spectrum was not a game console like the others it wouldn't be in the 2nd gen. You should have listed the biggest 2nd Gen console, the Atari 2600.

Switch isn't next gen, it's not even strong enough to keep up with this gen.

I guess my first few games were on the NES, but I wouldn't say I really started until the SNES era. That's where more of my memories are anyway.

Started with an NES, but I was like 2 and got a Genesis at 4 so, for all intents and purposes both.

There's a home video somewhere of a two-year-old Alis playing Simon's Quest and making more progress then than I did as an adult.

All these, my cousins were born in the 80s and so I was steeped in that generation of gaming by them

Was too poor to have a home system and my parents felt that video games was just money spent on foolishness.

Played around with Arcade cabinets from like 1981 to about 1985.

Started going to a mates house who had a NES.

Didn't get my own until 1988.

Gen 4 was the first I was around for the entirety of, and participated in at the time, so that. I did play earlier consoles, but after they'd been around for a bit.
