I don't think it's completely horrible, but... yeah. I just didn't like it.

The indomitable raptor... really? And that's the design that's supposed to scare or awe us? It looked like any old dinosaur with a streak of yellow like it was some hotrod car. The dinosaur cgi for jw 1 was laughably bad, but this time it was just bad.

Kind of a disappointing final boss. Nay super disappointing actually, because at least jw 1 had the hilariously awsome raptor and t-Rex team up to fight the indomitable Rex, with that epic whale dinosaur dragging it down. This time it was just... meh. Super meh.

Felt like they had more of a subplot with the maisie kid because that felt super rushed with the "she's a clone too" or whatever and I thought there was more to it than that. Like maybe she could communicate with the dinosaurs or... ? Not saying I want the creepy jp 4 idea of human dino hybrid that was thankfully scrapped but I just wonder if there's something I missed there, like maybe end credits scene? I walked out immediately after all.

And... yeah I guess that's it. I don't feel like there was anything else of note with this movie. Was hoping for another so bad it's good popcorn flick like the first but I think they got a little too big headed and thought they had made an actually good movie instead of not.

Ps EDIT: oh yeah now I remember. What exactly is the deal with making a random character that had 1 minute of screen time in the original jurassic park some kinda master villain mad scientist in jw 1 and now this? It's hilarious yeah but just wondering what the deal with that is.

This is the only way I want this franchise moving forward!

It's already beyond stupid and ridiculous, at least have fun with it.

That's not fun. Jw's cheese and characters taking themselves too seriously (Wilson Fisk actually wanted to weaponize blue dinosaurs lamafo) was fun, but that idea is creepy, like sci-fi horror mercy kill the monster creepy.

You know what I just saw a post that perfectly encapsulated what I thought of the movie in just a few sentences:

"The first half drags so much. And it never really picks up or gets much better from there."

^ ^ so true. I was fidgeting in my seat with this whole save the dinosaurs nonsense (I had heard rumors that this was going to be the plot of the sequel, but I didn't believe. I didn't believe). And this whole conveniently "benevolent" guy who like Claire wants to save the dinosaurs. And the obvious bad guy hunter who I would have enjoyed the twist of actually being a good guy and not an ass.

Speaking of which, there was a scene I missed a minute of, it was when the wormy bad guy goes into the old man's room and apparently kills him? I missed the entire exchange there and how he kills him, what happens?

Also did they reveal the old man knew of the wormy guy's plan to auction off the dinosaurs or that the old man was actually behind everything? Or was the exchange just the old man reprimanding the suit for his deceitfulness and getting killed by the suit in retaliation? Movie was dragging and I really needed to go to the restroom, so of all the scenes I could have missed that was the one I was most curious about.

I really enjoyed the movie but the Indoraptor was pretty weak. The I-Rex was a meta commentary on the movie itself which was pretty cool. The Indoraptor just seems like the people making this movie didn't know that. They said it was hyperintelligent and could follow human orders and all this stuff... but it's just a prototype that can't do that stuff yet. So it was just a smaller I-Rex. The I-Rex could fucking cloak and they decided an upgrade was just a big raptor? It could have at least had some cool tricks.

That's kind of the point. It's a prototype. It wasn't able to do all that other shit yet. That's the whole reason why they wanted Blue's DNA

Well, unless you wanna go with the "highly advanced prototype' trope where the prototype is better than the production model

I can't believe the goal was just to auction off the dinosaurs. Really? This operation must have cost hundreds of millions, and he's auctioning them off for like a meager 4 million dollars? Fucking really? 4 million in 2018? I was actually raising my hands and doing a "seriously?" motion at that part, especially when Zola auctioned off the iRaptor for a pitiful 20 million was it? That's chump change, Apple would have fired him immediately.

And they're still insisting on dinosaurs being even remotely viable and efficient weapons? I'm starting to think they're serious guys, and not doing a bit -__-'

Another thing for those who watched the movie, remember at the end when the dinosaurs leave the mansion and the gang see them gallop into the night jumanji style? Maisie was hugging chris pratt, and for some reason the camera starts slowly zooming in on her and her eyes. Was anyone terrified for a second that they were gonna turn into dinosaur slit eyes? I'm still unsure what the purpose of maisie even was so keep waiting for a reveal at every turn, petrified at the prospect of them doing what I'm most afraid of them doing. And since I grew up watching mj's thriller video, I'm always terrified of the hugging and then eyes turning evil slits of evil horror trope.

The movie existed to try to create a jurassic universe but its like when universal tried to do a monster universe. They forgot to make the movie. Itself enjoyable.

Sure it raises some interesting questions for a future movie human clones and dinosaurs mixed with the 'normal' world. But it was just blah. It didn't help that the trailers gave away every plot twist except the girl.

I assume so since she raised her and her "mother" since birth. It would be odd if the daughter had a daughter she didn't know about, especially if that daughter was born after she died.

There isn't really anything she could have said or done. I'm sure she'll come back to fight for her another day but, frankly, it was getting up to the finale and she didn't have any further part to play.

It's pretty easy to shelter a child. Especially if you live in a massive secluded mansion. She seems to have plenty to do there and has a very active imagination. I doubt she ever felt the need to question it.

A more important question:

Did the child age? I'm a little confused over the timeline of events.

They must have cloned his daughter ages ago so that there would be time for the falling out between Hammond and this recently introduced never-heard-before Lockwood. Which would mean... she doesn't age. And that would certainly have her of all people ask questions, especially if she was being educated.

Offhand remark, was anyone else reminded of kong 2017 (or really most movies nowadays) and wondered if they included the hot half-Asian "dinosaur vet" to secure the Chinese market? Only unlike the one from 2017 kong this one they overcompensate in being tough and "I can handle anything" attitude and I just find it a pity that I can recognize tokenism so easily now with the 2 side characters.

I mention kong and also add 2014's godzilla because I feel it started a trend with these recent monster movies where the monster is a good guy. Like, while they can probably eat or step on the heroes, they end up fighting a bigger threat that's much more dangerous to the protagonists and in so doing actually benefit the protagonists in a way. Like in jw 1 the original t-Rex is the one you're rooting for as it fights the iRex! Same with blue and iRex/iRaptor. That's an interesting change in perspective and I'm kinda into it, I liked rooting for godzilla or Kong or t-rex.
