Achievements. Some games reward you with them if you play on hard mode. Some games also cut the game short if you play on easy mode too.

I enjoy being challenged to learn and master the gameplay mechanics. To an extent, anyway, the ideal difficulty should offer resistance without disrupting the flow of the game too much. But I understand the easy mode mentality of just wanting a more relaxed experience.

Yup, playing on easy the game ended right after defeating Sigma. The cutscene showing Lumine begins but then is cut and skips right into the credits. Thank god I played on normal after beating the easy with my brother, otherwise I would never find out that the game continued on. lmao

I read an article the other day about the uncharted games being more fun on easy than on hard. the writer mentioned that in his play through on easy he was able to experience more mechanics of the game, melee combat, jumping, climbing, spraying at people whilst running at them, where as on hard he sat behind cover and popped out at enemies and felt punished if he tried to do any of the fun stuff.

I thought this was funny because i had the exact opposite experience. On my easy play through I sat behind cover and shot people, i did this because the game let me and i found it boring. However on hard when i tried sitting behind cover I was constantly getting killed by grenades, having my cover destroyed and most importantly running out of ammo. So for instance if i killed a sniper who was shooting at me I wanted to get to where he was so i could get the sniper rifle, since that killed any enemy in the game in one or two hits, so i would have to quickly figure out the fastes/safest path to where he was. If i was stuck with the crappy gun I would spray it at enemies to stun lock them allowing me to run up and punch them, i did this because it was quicker and saved bullets.

To summarize, on hard mode i felt more encouraged to play aggressively which i found to be fun. On easy i would not have done any of the fun stuff the game lets you do, because sitting behind cover and taking enemies out from a mile away was easy and more effective.

I like to start with easy and move up each play through

Unless it's a sequel/sports series (I don't need or want to start on rookie with each madden, for example)

I don't remember what game it was, but there's a game where easy mode is harder for some reason(I think the enemies drop less money or they take away the ability to do something to keep the gameplay simpler.).

If you guys ever play Valkyrie profile 1 do not play it on easy ever. That mode is actually harder than normal or hard, you cannot get the true ending and there's a huge swathe of content that is only seen in normal/hard.
