It makes a little more sense when you get it right because it's not just that you get it right, but you give the answer in a way that shows you actually give a crap about Hank in a way the "fake" Connor couldn't possibly.

I mean sure, but that doesn't really fix the way it puts it on the player. It just seems weird.

Like Hank is asking Connor a question he knows he didn't talk about with him, and is hoping Connor was basically snooping enough to find out his son's name. Kind of dicey for a question that you're gonna get shot and killed over.

Well, SHOULD know he didn't talk about with him. Again, this game has a few times where I dont think it takes into consideration ALL the paths a player can go to give it a cohesive story.

That said, the smart play would have been for Hank to separate them and just give them both the opportunity to convert, since the imposter was just there to stop the player.

Just watched. Objectively, sure it's the best one, but certainly hampered by them getting one of the most impressively awful endings imaginable.

Like, Matt says "We've done worse" at the end....nope!

If nothing else, pretty sure Way of the Samurai will always be worse than anything else they ever do.

Not gonna lie though, the main reason after the fact that it looked decent that I caved and bought a David Cage game at full price was how bad it looked like they were gonna do.

It felt very short even though it had more parts than Beyond (shorter parts but still)

I guess it's because they lost so much of the ending due to deaths

But even Kara's ending was very anticlimactic

Yeah, losing Markus especially really shortens the endgame. Despite having the North cliffnotes of failing the revolution path, he still has by far the most to do.

The camps are probably notably shorter than Kara's alternate route as well, in spite of what they were told.

Connor didn't lose much at all. He's definitely the shortest no matter what. Machine path is even shorter.

The Connor/Hank thing is super-weird is every aspect. Hank shouldn't be asking the question because he should know Connor doesn't know the answer. Connor shouldn't answer because Connor knows he doesn't know the answer (and thus should be saying "I don't know" or whatever). It's a bad question (as is the Sumo one) because Connor (both Connors) actually SHOULD know the answer, as these things would be on file with the hospital and vet.

He could've asked things like "What kind of music do I like?" or something that wouldn't be in a record somewhere. Although it's a bit iffy on what gets uploaded to other Connors, so the other one might know that too. So better off, as people have said, just tell both Connors to go ahead and convert the androids. One isn't going to go for it.

But instead they're all dead. Humans win. Yeah Kara made it to the end of the game, but let's be real with that ending she and Alice are super-fucked within like a week or two.

Yeah the whole Connor encounter with Hank at the end could have been done way better than just hinging on that one question (also yeah the obvious thing they could have done was just letting the deviant / real Connor do his thing which would make sense if you reach friendship path). Could have also asked about the music and stuff (seriously does knowing he likes Jazz ever come up at all?)

I'm still reeling from the just tell them both to convert oversight. Like fuckin ugh

Like Hank not asking, alright fine technically Hank might not really know what the deal with converting is since he's human so they can kind of get away with that.

HOW DID REAL CONNOR NOT THINK TO THROW THAT OUT THERE. Androids have been doing the whole "plan a route in my head in 2 milliseconds and execute" thing all game, how couldn't he have done that to think to tell Hank to let them convert to see who's real

Connor: "I have an idea, Hank. Let me convert them. That'll show you I'm the real Connor."
Hank: "Awright then, go ahead and do it."
Connor 2: "I would have come up with that idea, too! Let me do it, Hank!"
Hank: "A-alright. You go ahead, too, then."

And so both Connors converted the androids. Connor 2 wanted nothing but to convince Hank he was the real Connor. And Connor always completes his mission. Even if he has to play the long game, and wait years and years and years and...

Let's be real though.

The only reason Hank asked those questions is because David Cage wanted that absurdly overplayed and corny clones held at gunpoint, ask them questions to find the real one scene. Which just really stuck out to me as super hack writing moreso than most other things in this game.

You're not wrong, but I swear the correct answer is itself a good scene AND makes sense in proving he has the right Connor. They just put zero thought into justifying what happens with the wrong answer, especially when the subject of his son never came up.

(And how easy it is to miss that subject is a bigger problem to me.)

I was just making a joke with the Connors before, yeah. Guess I wouldn't have made it had I remembered that little factoid about the deviants, but oh well.

I think for as played out as the Which One's The Real One thing is, they could've done a nice little twist on it by having the bad Connor do the whole "You have to shoot us both, Hank! It's the only way to know for sure!" part. That's normally what the hero says, but here it would've accomplished the bad Connor's mission instead. Maybe Hank does it without thinking about that--he's seen too many movies!

There's so many ways that Connor could have been written better

I like how this game is mostly good though, you can tell the writing got better in this game for sure

Maybe in the next game they will put Cage in a much lighter advisory role and let some pros write the script
